I spoke to the office on Monday and they said that there had been a hold up and marshals' instructions/passes would be going out 1st class that day or Tuesday.

Anybody got other information as to when sign-on might be (I forgot to ask that!) Practice starts at 0900 according to their website.

Regards

Jim

I dont know weither you get the VSCC newsletters or not, but in this months it had a message from the competition office to say - they try to get final instructions out 2 weeks before an event, so if you havent recieved anything on the friday, please give them a shout on the Monday and they will send out a pack for you. As they cant garantee that the venue will entertain the idea of tickets being left on the gate (this applying to all VSCC events and not just Oulton Park)

the main guys are listed on here with their extension numbers, or email addresses: VSCC Contacts page

I got in touch with Bob Wimmer - the competition secretary who was able to sort things for me.

Thanks... my tickets arrived today! Never been to VSCC before so looking forward to seeing all of the older cars in action. Is it very competitive?

I'd better get my name down for this as I think due to a random confluence of circumstances I'll be free this weekend (i.e. in the UK, car working, no need to be on plane on Sunday afternoon)

Maybe I'll just pay to watch instead

in that case - you can help the mechanic change the spark plugs

Being an aero engine - it has a dual ingnition system... making 24 spark plugs in total

Don't all engines have two plugs per cylinder?

I would say - yes.

tho speeds may not be high - the drivers are certainly having to work hard.

Tickets arrived today, but looks like it maybe a boring meeting. The weather last year was superb, but the racing was ..... boring. Shame when a feature race has 11 starters and run over 40 minutes. Let's hope it is a good one!!!!

Its Thursday Morning, posty has been and NO tickets. Not looking too good. Just read there is no policy of tickets being left at gate either. Prehaps its one of those, you are not ment to be there meetings.

Mike

I've just checked my copy of the instructions and your name is on the list so I guess that the Post Office is to blame.

Alistair Garrett is down as chief marshal and the instructions repeat the usual instructions about missing tickets. I.E. go to the left hand ticket booth and (politely - his words, not mine ) ask the occupant to radio the circuit office to sort out a ticket. Sign on is 0745.

Or you could pm brsccnw who is that man.

Or if you are hanging about at 0745 and approach Mercia Rescue when we arrive, you can have our spare. So don't give up on the day!

Regards

Jim

I'll be leaving my spare ticket at the LH booth as always - anyone want it can have it on a first come first served basis. Although I'll probably not be there until 7:30 at the earliest anyway.

You'll recognise me as I'll be wearing orange

Another great day!

There's always something special about VSCC meetings; hard to define, but it's a combination of the cars - from the sublime (e.g. ERA) to the plain silly (anything aero-engined!), the relaxed atmosphere, gentlemanly but often ferocious racing, so many more factors. Add to that another sunny day &, again, good company on post...

My quiet season continues, but then Hill Top was never going to be the busiest post on such a quiet (incident-wise) day.

Another car to add to my 'favourites' list - the Vauxhall Viper special. How can a car taller than it is wide, with the aerodynamics, not just of a barn door but of the whole barn, on such skinny tyres & with no front brakes, be so fast?

As usual, the drivers were really enthusiastic in the way they showed their appreciation of the marshals - no club's drivers do it better.

Yet another highlight of what promises to my best ever season!

We had your share of offs down at Island/Shell - including one on fire.

Two & three abreast through Island Bend was a site to see, especially when only one of them stayed on the black stuff the whole way around

One or two of them looked as if they were going to roll after they went into the grass sideways and then dug in, but a bit of excellent driving straightened them up and saw them heading for the tyres/gravel at almost full speed. I think it was only the skinny tyres and humongous ground clearance that let them escape.
