I can't wait to see the final entry list on Thursday. Really interested to see how this new WC will take off. Does anyone have an idea how many cars will be there in total and how they should divide between the 4 categories?

In case people are wondering, the Lola LMP2 coupe is now cost capped. I was not sure, so I check on the Lola website: http://lolacars.com/downloads/racecar_2.pdf
BTW The Lola brochure mentions "Monocoque certified to all ACO and FIA structural and crash standards through 2012 and is eligible until 2016." Not sure what that implies. Will LMP2 remain unchanged in 2014 or will there be a transition period to the new regulations? |

so... this lotus lmp2. is it just a badge or did lotus develop the chassis further? for example the front overhang on the lotus lmp2 looks different from whats in the pdf.

No, both the chassis (Lola) and the engine (Judd/BMW) are rebadged to Lotus. That is all.

According to http://twitter.com/#!/RebellionRacin...66503674781696 Jeroen Bleekemolen will join Rebellion Racing for Sebring 12 Hours and Le Mans 24 Hours.
That means that Rebellion has their 6 drivers for the season:

Good to see the Lotus thing came off after a bit of speculation to the contrary. Even if it is just a badge job. As I said a while ago if they bump up Rossiter/Mowlem/Hirschi into the P2 they could be in with a shout of a podium.

the lotus story on speed. Also, only 30 cars in wec. So who will the aco kick out of the new championship and on what basis? The lmp field itself should contain more than 20 cars... greaves, pegasus, pecom, signatech x2?, ADR, HS technik, oak racing x2 at least, gulf x2, lotus x2, rebellion x2, strakka, jrm, toyota, hope, pescarolo, audi x2 also, in gte: af corse x2, felbermayr x2, aston x2, luxury x2, larbre x2, krohn 32 cars at least but there must be more entries in gte |

Why is the cap set to 30 I wonder? something about transportation costs? I also wonder if the WEC will have an alternate entry list like Le Mans does?

Probably a combination of transportation costs, plus an attempt to leave some space for a further 26 Le Mans-only entrants from ELMS/ALMS. (yes, 26, we should have 56 classified entries at LM this year plus the 57th unclassified and opinion-divisive one).

Some wiggle room in that case has to come from the Sebring pitlane extension which is about to be completed. Unless we're told otherwise, it's fair enough to suspect that it's done in order to bring the number of pit stalls up to 64 (which is the maximum number of cars for a 12h race at Sebring under FIA circuit guidelines).
