British GP Volunteering Forms 2004

Yesterday I got a volunteering form for next years GP at Silverstone. Nothing unusual in that I guess, but what I found amusing was that it came from the BRDC Marshals Club!

When I was a member of that Club, I NEVER, EVER got a volunteering form for the BGP. Now that I am no longer a member (And haven't been for two years) I get a form from them!

Anyone else had forms through yet - either from clubs they belong to or otherwise?

It went straight into the bin anyway - regardless of who sent it!

Well I would have hoped there would be one in the BMMC trackside news letter. But as I havent had one for what seems like 12 months I guess we will never know
Dont think ill bother renewing at the end of this year as I dont see the point

Had mine from the BRSCC.
Having only done one GP I shall be filling mine in. I know people don't like it and think it's boring, but I enjoyed my first one a few years ago.

I think evey marshal who is given the opportunity to work at the GP should most definately go for it!
With me, like many others, it's a personal choice whether to go or not.
I would not like to influence others by my thoughts. I have done 7 BGP's and enjoyed the majority of them. For me, the problem is now transport not the way we are "Allegedly" ill-treated!!

Hi Mr Observer
Been marshaling 18 month now and never been to the Bititsh GP, fancy going this year so I'll have your volunteering form if you don't want it.

I received mine last week from BARC.

Instructions said it needs to be in by 21st Nov. You need to have done at least 15 race day meetings to be considered.
Will be my first time next year.

BMMC member, nothing heard yet. Not sure whether I want to go back having not bothered last two years, but I just get this feeling I'm missing out on something when I'm not there.

I had my form about two weeks ago from BRSCC SE, it has to be sent in by 14th November. Mine completed and sent in already. I went for the first time this year and really enjoyed it, I hope that I get selected to go again.

The BMMC is well aware of the problems of Trackside and information and are trying to sort it out. I will not discuss on here what has happned but to say if you are not happy then speak to yoyr regional committee.
Rich S.
PS I had my GP form from BRSCC SE and it ended up as all others in file 13.

Paul, if you're a graded marshal and haven't had one yet, contact your primary marshalling club and ask where it is!
At a guess though, 18 months of marshalling suggests that you might still be a trainee - and unfortunately trainees cannot marshal at a GP!

Don't worry Stu I'll get my own back - beware the power of the broomstick! Anyway, they obviously don't want Steve as well because he hasn't had any volunteering forms either.

Does anyone know if there's the slightest chance that the BMMC mag might appear soon, with the relevent form included?

Thanks Stephen!
I know there have been problems with the usual printers going into liquidation, but that was in August I think.

What a surprise not had a form for the third year running. Just a good job I had no intention of filling in british gp form. Did my first GP in 1999 with Observer and hated it (not observer though) did my second in Australia and loved it so never bothered with the british one. The best part of the British GP thought was the campsite behind club. Never been so drunk and had so much fun.

Same hear I'm a member of both the BRSCC and the BMMC and I have nothing yet. There again the North West region are always late when it comes to sending out volunteering forms for the GP
