Imola Test Morning
1 - Fabio Leimer - Jenzer - 1:37.782 2 - Vladimir Arabadzhiev - JD - 1:38.100 3 - Patrick Reiterer - Jenzer/Iris - 1:38.209 4 - Simon Trummer - Jenzer/Iris - 1:38.280 5 - Sergey Afanasiev - JD - 1:38.543 6 - Filip Salaquarda - ISR - 1:38.815 7 - Josef Kral - JD - 1:38.963 8 - Alessandro Kouzkin - Cram - 1:38.986 9 - Pal Varhaug - Jenzer - 1:39.003 10 - Alexander Rossi - Trident - 1:39.135 11 - Erik Janis - ISR - 1:39.161 12 - Mihai Marinescu - AR - 1:39.495 13 - Kelvin Snoeks - AR - 1:39.528 14 - Henry Surtees - JWA - 1:41.658 I reckon Italiaracing.net is reading this Forum as they reported that Formula2 drivers are testing in Various series like Surtees today. A bit offensive report for Formula2 on italiaracing.net. I think they should find other reasons to explain the low number of entries in Formula Master. Only 14 Cars at this test and all the newcomers are missing (Campos Racing,HBH Racing,Hitech Junior) So far only 3 teams have comfirmed drivers |

Official testing result day 1 at Brno , only 16 cars on the track on this day 1 ( day 2 is joined by Renger Van der Zande and Jason Moore). Hitech Junior is on the track with one car for Alexander Rossi
At one month of the start of the championship it does not really look good for this serie. Many teams ( ADM,Euronova,HBH Racing,Campos Scuderia Fama) has still not done any collective tests in 2009. Drivers like Surtees and Moore are likely to be there to prepare the Formula 2 race. Day 1 Result 1 - Fabio Leimer - Jenzer - 1:48.94 2 - Sergey Afanasiev - JD Motorsport - 1:49.09 3 - Erik Janis - ISR - 1:49.14 4 - Alexander Rossi - Hitech - 1:49.25 5 - Josef Kral - JD Motorsport - 1:49.35 6 - Patrick Reiterer - Iris/Jenzer - 1:49.54 7 - Filip Salaquarda - ISR - 1:49.54 8 - Vladimir Arabadzhiev - JD Motorsport - 1:50.03 9 - PÃ¥l Varhaug - Jenzer - 1:50.06 10 - Simon Trummer - Iris/Jenzer - 1:50.12 11 - Alessandro Kouzkin - Cram - 1:50.18 12 - Henry Surtees - JVA - 1:50.48 13 - Mihai Marinescu - AR - 1:50.65 14 - Nicola De Marco - Cram - 1:50.84 15 - Tiago Petiz - Trident - 1:51.80 16 - Kelvin Snoeks - AR - 1:52.10 |

A surprising new title-contender joined testing today: Renger Van der Zande with AR. I thought it was going to be Leimer walk in the park, but Van der Zande is a very steady racer, who's picking up points and beat Dani Clos at Prema last season.

Van der Zande announced he would drive BRL, I'm wondering if he will do both
edit: where did you get the thing about Van der Zande? I don't see him in the timetables |

Oh, I hoped he would race, not a bad driver, he won for 2 years in F3ES with Prema.

Talked to him day before yesterday, he was in Brno only to help his friend Kelvin Snoeks. He said he was about to do DTM this year, but I did not happen. So he is not sure about this season, he has no budget even for IFM. I was actually surprised he drove yesterday.

It's a shame when the FIA sanction a new championship like F2 with a realistic budget and a comparatively level playing field and then people with enough money to do other things go and test F3 and FMaster at enormous cost just to attempt to get an edge.
Funny they're still slow though..... |

Indeed, Renger was there to help out with Kelvin Snoeks and there was a chance he might do some laps during one of the days.
Form the latest news, it looks like he might be doing British F3 with Hitech. |

Nice addition to both grids, it would be easy championship battle for Renger only against Leimer in FM, may be Kral and Rossi will have good races.
