CAMS Media Release
30 May 2005

SATURDAY 28 MAY

Matters arising from Qualifying:

Car #48, David Besnard, was found to be in breach of the rules, failure to comply with the directions of Officials to weigh a car (D16.5). In accordance with the rules, car #48's times to that point were excluded. Car #48 then failed to represent for weighing, therefore in accordance with the rules, car #48's time for the session were excluded. Car #48 will start Race 1 from the rear of the grid.

Following an investigation by the IPO, and an admission by the team, the Stewards found that Stone Brothers Racing was in breach of the rules, in that equipment entered the fast lane (D11.7.5 & B6.7.13). The item was a broken wheel gun socket. The Stewards imposed a penalty of a fine of $1,000.

Matters arising from the Shootout:

Following an investigation by the IPO, and an admission by the competitor, the Stewards found that car #3, Jason Richards, was in breach of the rules, in that the car was not in pit bay at the commencement of the Shootout (D11.4.11.2 & B6.7.13). The Stewards imposed a penalty of exclusion from the session, therefore car #3 will start Race 1 from grid position 10.

SUNDAY 29 MAY

Matters arising from Race 1:

The following cars/drivers received a drive-through penalty during Race 1:
* Car #50, Paul Weel, driving infringement on car #24, Paul Dumbrell.

The IPO investigated the incident involving contact between car #1, Marcos Ambrose, and car #2, Mark Skaife. The IPO found that there was no breach of the rules.

Matters arising from Race 2:

The following cars/drivers received a drive-through penalty during Race 2:
* Car #88, Steve Ellery, jumping the start;
* Car #67, Paul Morris, exceeding the pit lane speed limit; and
* Car #48, David Besnard, driving infringement on car #6, Jason Bright.

Other matters:

Following an investigation by the IPO, Paramount Motorsport (Team Perkins Racing) was charged with a breach of the rules, providing false information to a Stewards Hearing (B6.5.11). The charge related to information given by Mr Larry Perkins at the Stewards Hearing convened on 27 April 2005 to hear the charge of reckless driving against Paul Dumbrell at Pukekohe, New Zealand. Paramount Motorsport did not admit to a breach of the rules and requested a Stewards Hearing. The Stewards opened a hearing and found the charged proved against Paramount Motorsport. The Stewards imposed a penalty of a fine of $10,000. Paramount Motorsport has lodged an appeal against the Stewards' finding and the penalty.
