John Dawson-Damer Lotus Collection Auction

So very, very sad in so many ways...sad to think that JDDs magnificent Lotus collection may leave the country (Australia, under auction)...and so very sad that they are showing his crash that killed Andy and injured Steve

I've seen the ads in the motoring press since August.

Spoke to Clive Chapman, seems the bits left of the 63 were taken back to Aus and the car reconstructed there, without involvement by Team Lotus. Seems a strange thing to do, given the history of the car now.

I suppose money is more important than sentiment ...........

Sad it is this way.

With the history of the car it should have been treated like Babs, not sold off for the highest ghoul.

Certainly do not want to watch that video again.

All the cars look absolutely magnificent, as you would expect....I don't know who did the rebuild, but it shouldn't be too hard to find out.

Showing the crash is indeed in exeptionally poor taste

News hounds are the same the world over...in this case, a significant auction expected to attain millions of dollars had to go to air with a hook.

The news buletin I watched had http://www.seven.com.au/news/profile...2_paulmarshall droning on about something he probably has no idea about...he has this faux undertaker look and feel about him that the news director probably thought was appropriate for the subject.

To be fair, Bonhams appeared to have stuck to the facts and presenting (beautifully) what is being offered for sale.
