Reliability after Nurburgring

Percentage of times cars don't have mechanical retirements. and numbers of mechanical retirements.
Code:
Ferrari 100% 0
Renault 100% 0
Sauber 93% 1
Toyota 93% 1
Williams 86% 2
BAR 79% 3
Jaguar 71% 4
Minardi 64% 5
McLaren 50% 7
Jordan 50% 7
---------------
General 79% 30
  • General reliability of the field goes on about 80%.
  • Sauber shows a great regularity, maybe the engines are nowadays the main source of mechanical rets.
  • BAR is just in the middle of the table. If they want to reach a 2-3 position in WTC, they will need to look at it.
  • McLaren and Jordan again in the tail of the field, particularly McLaren apparently are going backwards.

Sauber have 'a lot' of the 2003 Ferrari mechanical parts, which looks as if it is reflected in their reliablity level, only 7% off Ferrari.

Interestingly, last year Sauber seemed to have an unusual number of engine problems, which we assume must be down to installation issues? This year the engine must be a better 'fit'.....

Poor reliability from Jordan again, has the main factor been engine? If so more installation related issues?

RWC should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
No
Last year if i remember correctly,Sauber had a one year old engine design that they had detuned to last longer for the change in regulations
This year they have the latest designs that are made for the job

McLaren are at rock bottom at the mmoment so the only way for them to go is up, Hopefuly all the design and reliability issues have been adressed now and they can start to fight their way back to the top...

I think Jordans problems are mostly gearbox/engine aren't they? Some failures are purely gearbox others are engine related (possibly brought on by gearbox trouble?).

I think the gearbox is Jordan's main issue, as when the cars stop they rarely seem to be trailing smoke, and Jaguar haven't had many engine problems either, more hydraulic issues.
