Oh the joys of the trek down to Snetterton again! Russell is definitely the best place for photos (especially if the touring cars provide as much entertainment as the Minis did a couple of months back. Also see www.bandqsi.com for a Snetterton circuit guide.

Must remember about the speed cameras, must remember about the speed cameras...repeat this chant all the way to Snetterton

I may turn up with a Mini again (The Mini festival is the day before BTCC race day). Was kinda fun last time - nearly got ushered into the BTC production race by the marshals

Slowcoach should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Just thought I'd bring this thread back upto the top particularly as I have just received an invitation to race in the 'Heritage Grand Touring Car Challenge' - how excited am I !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A 20 min sprint race on Saturday at 18.10 and a 30 min Endurance race straight after the BTCC feature race on Sunday at 17.30 - only got it this morning so bruddy loads of things to get sorted......so let me know where you all will be and I'll wave (probably from the back as I'm not allowed to use my slicks!) Can 10 Tenths get a sticker to me in time for the race......?

Excellent; well done mate! Not sure where we'll be but Russell is likely I'd expect... look for the huge B&Q flag and the inflatable kangaroos! We will look out for you and wave! What car number is it ?

As for a sticker; sure! I will make sure I bring some with me Nice one!

Great - it's the white Rover #80 with 'Unipart' down the side. Hmmm yes I think Kangaroos should be easyish to spot! Do you think it will be very busy on the Saturday?

That was The Anchor and it was very nice too apart from the waitress who didn't appreciate Invader's sense of humour... no comments please!

Yes, was class on the Friday night wasn't it ? Not seen anything of that quality since I made the mistake of spending a Saturday night in Aldershot with a load of squaddies!

Oh... problem with sticker... *it* is also WHITE!

I have a spare ten-tenths sticker or two - in silver IIRC, so I'll bring 'em on Sunday

Just seen the local weather forecast on Look East!
Sunny, sunny, sunny all three days but humid!!!!
26 degrees friday,25 Sat and 24 Sun.
Bound to be dusty so if there is a slight breeze, watch out which direction it is blowing for the dust from the exit of Russell when cars go wide. You'll need to wash your cars Monday too as the dust goes everywhere!
Hope they are right with the weather as it is still only Tuesday.

Well was going to go to Film on the Beach at Brighton assuming it wasn't cancelled after the Fat Boy Slim concert up.

However maybe I'll take advantage of the season ticket and go to Snetterton instead. Car is covered in dust after being parked in the campsite at Magny Cours all weeked (do the Germans ever turn their music off?). Not only that it goes into the bodyshop on Monday to have the damage done when some scum tried to nick it on the way to Le Mans repaired. So no need for me to wash it!

So when you see a sad old git otherwiseknown as Billy No Mates sitting beside his spoilerless WRX wander over for a chat and a beer!

Last years night race was great, especially in the wet, think I watched from Russell or thereabouts. Seem to recall a Pug hit the barrier, and a few laps later it was almost collected by Muller in the Astra. On that occasion he hadn't been pushed off by Jason Plato!

Well, Friday pm and the car is all packed for a very early start. Thanks for all the replies folks. If you see a tall bloke and a short bloke hanging around a red MX5 and a blue tent please say hello - it would be good to put a few faces to the names above. Hope you all have a great w/e, whatever you are up to.
Bye for now.

I was told about that as well - weaving in and out of the awnings and the police couldn't catch them

hot wasn't it! We had to leave straight after the feature race and the rain - flooded some of the back roads. What was it like at the track?

Frankly Les it was terrifying for the first 5 laps. The heavens opened as we sat in the assembly area - and it was torrential, they delayed the start slightly so that those that wanted to could go and change to wets, which about 80% did then we did a 24 car rolling start in the pouring rain - visibility was about 5 to 10 yards I should say. Avis's Shelby Mustang appeared to have crashed into the barriers along the Revett straight - on the first green flag lap !! Then as we charged across the line for the start(me on the back row) a DBSV8 spun, I only saw him at the last minute and had to go on the grass until after the marker board, then I then managed a full 360 just before the Bombhole - but stayed on the tarmac and just carried on! - complete fluke. Then a DB4GT hit the pit wall right infront of me and we had the safety car out for a few laps, and then on our last lap my co-driver managed to lose it at the bottom of the Revett straight and just into the esses hit the tyre wall ! What a weekend...........

We waved at you from Russell Slowcoach, but I presume you were concentrating too hard to notice!! We saw the car come back on a tow rope - didn't look too bad - but figured you might not be in the mood for a chat!

That historics race was pretty good stuff - it amused me that the best crowd reaction went to Gordon Streater's Anglia, Norman Ricketts' Cortina, and most of all the Mini! It's not often you see a Mini overtake a Camaro - quite something! And boy did he get a thorough airhorn symphony from the crowd!

A great weekend wasn't it! I was watching the feature race from the marshal's post at the inside of Coram. The first lap when Bennett's Proton was shunted sideways was really something. Full opposite lock pointing towards us but unfortunately he didn't get it back. A good performance from the JLR boys in FF Zetec putting one over the factory squad again and good drives from Jamie Green and Pat Long in Renault. The last corner antics in the Porsche race were fun!
How was the traffic getting out? I left just before the end of the feature and was heading off around the back to Norwich anyway so very easy.

What was the damage like, Slowcoach? It didn't look too bad when we saw it coming back into the paddock. Missing front bumper and a bit of a ding on the driver's side front wing.. Worse than it looked?

You must have seen us Andrew - under the Gazebo on the inside at Coram!

We saw Mat Neal come and sit on the advertising boards near you lot.

You will be pleased to know it rained on and off all night and Ipswich was flooded this morning. They are now saying that was the summer and we will have more rain tomorrow and all week

Sorry I didnt see you at Russell but yes lots of concentration in the rain. As for damage - in the cold light of day it's not that serious, bumpers front and rear, lights at front and a 'ding' front wing and rear quarter, a split oil pipe stopped us driving it again so hopefully a wash, new pipes and a large mallet (not Peter) should see us out at Silverstone !
