Winter may be over, but I have work for many winters to come!
I finally have extracted the chassis out of my Europa, the back is solid, but the front isn't pretty. I'm debating whether it's repairable, but I need to remove all of the rust before I make up my mind. There are some extra pictures and text on my website for those who like. http://medicinal-motorsport.co.cc/ |

Have a winter project been brought forward a bit (just starting Autumn here), looks like I have done a head gasket on my recently purchased Imp or at least I hope that's all it is! Had already planned to fit a speedo to get it ready to use the road also, used it in my mate's wedding recently which was fun.

Iain . . .current projects are
1969 Lambretta GP125 1973 Vespa 90 1962 Tornado Talisman 1965 MK1 Cortina fleet 1963 MK1 Cortina GT They're all in lock ups, going no where fast due to lack of time/money although plans are a foot . . .as always! on the brighter side, the Cortina that is together, is working very well, and has a spare engine, gearbox and diff siting to one side! |

Yes not sure why Wills rings aren't in it, I have another engine to build which I'll look at doing that on, in the meantime here is a pic of the gasket.
zef - no thanks, rather not chop it up! Although I have a couple of parts cars that would be suitable for something like that, would rather put a Subaru engine in one Lancsbreaker, yes do know some guys in Qld (well via club/net), its about 20-24 hours travel to get there. Iain, there was an Eagle Imp open wheel car running here ~10 years ago by the Simpson family that was unbeatable in its historic class, it was tiny, made a FFord look huge. |

I'm with you on that one, like all the mullered old FOrds over here with stupid engines in them. . . . SUbaru engines go in VW campers, thats a deserving cause, if a lethal recipe for understeer

Reason being the Subaru ohv engine is only a couple of kg heavier than the Imp engine - needs a VW gearbox which is also heavier. Overall not bad for balance I think, better than any alternative.
Went to put it back together today but realised in time that the new head gasket was for an 875 not a 1040... It won't be raced for some time so I'm comfortable with using a gasket for the time being, & I have another engine to refresh & will look at putting Wills rings in that. |

Had a strange conversation with a couple of guys from Classic Ford at a car show a few years back. They were asking whether they could do an article on my car when one suddenly asked where it was built, I told them New Jersey to which they replied ''oh, thats in America, we only feature UK cars'' Errr, yeah, its a Mustang!!

I did a feature with them recently, the editor and a few know their stuff, unfortunately they're driven to sell magazines, and as histrionic aficionado's we're in the minority. They'll have kittens over Iains Escort if he fancies some nice photo's!

It's a glorious day here in Wiltshire, a perfect Spring morning to do the final pre-360 fettling. I've got a 10k race first, and I hope by this afternoon I'll be pleased enough with the car to venture a photograph on here

Rained off! No sooner had I typed the post than it clouded over, by the time I got back from the 10k (and the pub!) it was hosing down...
But you can see work in progress on http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?s...1312844&type=3 Last edited by midgetman; 23 Apr 2012 at 11:34. |

Here you go then Richard.
Three pics, August 2010 and today. Nearly finished, just got a giant snag list to complete! The 2010 pic doesn't show the smashed windscreen, nor the smell of wet labrador that pervaded the interior which was probably something to do with the lake in the passenger footwell. |

Well done. I am somewhat jealous because I'd love to be able to have a winter project.

'Tis indeed....must have been a very heavy roll-cage and race-seat you fitted tho', cos it looks a lot lower now.....
Always thought we should probably have lowered the 944 some more...but as I have a habit of kerb-hopping occasionally, we erred on the side of caution, not wishing to lose the exhaust |
