Did the Astons/Corvettes run with any ballast/penalties to their cars?
Did the ACO place any ballast or restrictor penalties to either car for the race?

i believe both were ballasted due to the fast laps last year, were penalized for exceeding the target speed for GT1 from the ACO.

Alright, but did either have a sizable advantage over the other?

I wouldn't necessarily say luck was on Aston Martins side, the #63 Corvette ran as much a trouble free race as the #009 and #008 Aston Martins. It really all came down to pure speed.

I was doing the math, and it was looking like the Vette would have gotten on the same lap as the Aston, but wouldnt have had the time to make an addtional lap to actually pass the 009 for 1st.

i reckon if the vette got on the same lap the aston wouldve speed up |

yea Im sure of the same
I was watching the timing and the Vette was doing 4:30s while the Aston was around the 5:00 - 5:05 range. Im pretty sure he could have gone faster, but it wasnt necessary. |

Not only could the Aston have sped up, but it was also more likely that Corvette would have screwed up at that hard pace.

Finally Aston win, and give the brits something to cheer about! Thanks to the Vette fans for so far being less comabtive than before, I've been subject to it, and it ain't pretty. A good race, an odd race, but one that Aston controlled really.
Congrats Aston, commiserations Corvette, may the battle continue at Spa (in part, at least) |
