We had planned that i would fly back from Hockenheim and race the Westminster with Jim in Oldies but Goldie's. Masters then changed the format of the race so decided to stay in Germany. Just as well with the flight issue. Jim had a good weekend despite the dizzy falling apart in first race.Mk 1 Mart soon fixed that problem with the spare we carry and Jim had a good second race although there is a horrible creamy colour solution in the catch tank and the gearbox is jammed in two gears.

Yes, the car and engine are the real deal, Vince having owned and raced it since the 70s.

Race 6 - Pre-66 Mini series

Both a disappointing entry (6 cars) and way to end this otherwise enjoyable meeting with the race understandably reduced from 45 minutes to 30 minutes. The all Mini race at the Goodwood Revival was a success, but I'm sorry, that meeting should not be used as a barometer for judging success elsewhere. The Mini races last year at the Silverstone Classic, even allowing all sorts of odd variants in, was, frankly a failure. How many FIA appendix K Minis actually exist, and can enough of them be persuaded to come out to play in this Masters series? Outside of the more modern Mini Miglia races, experience is so far showing that there just isn't sufficient interest amongst owners of the older racing Minis to bring them out:-

an interesting point and given the cost of building a Mini I wonder how many will be built..... I think the U2TC idea is a more commercial one - the idea of splitting V8's from the smaller cars is a great one in theory but I wonder if it works in practice

I thought quite a few App K Minis were built for Goody last year?

Great pics again, John! Must get out for a copy of Autosport later. Not much in the other 'Rag' from Lewis (usual space restrictions I guess!) but apparantly I did get a mention in his EDP report. For me, that is getting close to fame
