LoUvE should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Clutch

Hi !

I always wanted to know what kind of transmission a F300 car and Formula Renault had... Manual or automatic ?

And also, how do the drivers change the gears ? At the steering wheel like it used to be in Formula 1 or like in Champ CART ?

Thanks for your answers

Both use manual transmission - I don't know where the gear lever is in a champ car, but I'd assume it was probably similar to F3000.

The gear level in a Champ CART is in the cockpit at the right of the driver.

The driver has to let go of the steering wheel to change a gear.

Is it the same in F3000 ?

Are F3000 teams allowed to use the same electronic gizmos as their F1 counterparts eg, launch and traction control?

Basically F3000's all run on the same engine/chassis combination and it is very strictly controlled in terms of modifications. All cars have manual gearboxes and do not have either launch control or traction control. F3000's run on V8 engines while F1 are all V10. The other interesting difference is that F1 runs on grooved tyres while F3000 run on slicks.

I hope that's been of some help?

Stephen.
