Difference between S2000 "IRC" and S2000 "WRC"?

Beside the engine is there a difference between S2000 "IRC" (2011 version) and S2000 "WRC"?

The new Rally regs are basicly this: There is the class Superproduction, which is something like the current S2000 regs but with 1.6T. These cars will be used in all local and regional rally championships. In the WRC they will also use these cars, but they can be fitted with a special WRC-kit. The kit consists of a different front bumper, different brakes, different rear wing and a different restrictor.
Next year the IRC will still use the "old" S2000 regs, so no turbos there!

Okay. I thought the 1.6L turbo will only be used in WRC, all other series will use the current 2L NA and are not allowed to use the 1.6L turbo.

Same old story i know but why they can't come up with the same regs for both is beyond me so that somebody who has a car for a national championship can maybe do a few WRC rounds with out having to spend more money on his already expensive car in order to be in some way competitive

Because it's the grand vision of the FIA that everybody should use 1.6 Turbos, from the WRC and WTCC, right up to Formula 1 (from 2013)...

The 1.6l turbo engines are supposed to be built to the FIA's Global Racing Engine blueprint, same engine used across a number of catagories. F1 is moving to use them too.

The WRC 1.6l turbo can have direct injection, so performace is supposed to similar to the current WRC 2.0l turbo engines.

The Super Production class, will probably include N4, R4 (N4 with go faster bits), S2000 2.0l and S2000 1.6l turbo. All new S2000 homologations are supposed to use the new 1.6l turbo engines, but it will probably 2012 before Super Production sorts itself out.

So will the BRC and Irish Tarmac Championship use the Super Production S2000 1.6T as the top class?

I think the FIA said that regional champhionships should wait till 2012 before making the 1.6T the top category. Doubt BRC would allow 1.6T's, but Irish Tarmac still allow WRC's, so you could probably run an S2000 1.6T.

Also the 2011 WRC S2000 Cup is for S2000 2.0l only.

After years of delay, all the 2011 reg's are on FIA.com:

rally regs
http://fia.com/en-GB/sport/regulatio...pionships.aspx

SPORTING CODE + App J
http://fia.com/EN-GB/SPORT/REGULATIO...tingCodeA.aspx

However the Regional Rally Reg's say S2000 1.6T are good to go when they announce what size restrictor (sometime by Feb 15th)

IRC don't allow 1.6T till 2012.

Looks like the 2WD 1.6l turbo/2l NA cars from the R3 class will be the top class of the British Rally Championship starting from 2012. No more Subarus, Evos or S2000s.

I'm wondering if other European series will follow that model - imho this could be a similar catalyst for national rallying as Supertouring was for touring cars.

Having 3 well subscribed classes surely beats the plethora of undersubscribed classes and/or mismatched cars that's dominant in some European series right now. And with S2000 appearantly too expensive for some countries, this could be a really interesting alternative.
