Matra museum !
As we talk about Matra engines and their sounds, I would like to tell that you can visit a nice museum about Matra and their engines located at Romorantin, a small town, about 80 kms (50 miles) south from Orléans.
There are V12, the 1,5 litre turbo, MS650, MS670, F1 and road cars prototypes. It's not very large but it's very interesting. It takes about 2h30 from Le Mans. see http://www.romorantin.fr/tourisme/a_...usee/matra.htm |

Confirmed : a very pleasant area (named "Sologne"), definitely worth a trip, fits perfectly with a "Classic" trip in July, to say one thing...
Good restaurants on the way, pleasant stints in towns around (Blois, Tours, Chambord...), with castles, nice landscapes, and vineyards ! My birthplace, i have to admit... With a spyder, and a glorious sunny day, you won't forget your trip, believe me ! The road along the Loire is unforgetable... |
