Quite possibly - that car was seriously quick at Silverstone last year (like the flame spitting exhaust too

). I'll be there on the Sunday with Bill Richards (the fastest Mini race sees the return to action of Bills Cosworth BDH powered Metro silhouette), it should be a good weekends racing - what's the entry list like for the fastest Mini race?

I think it is a combined race with the X-Treme Minis, so it shouldn't be too terrible.

It will be! It is a pity that the Mini Marcos is not on the entry list as Pete has unfinished business with that car.

I spoke to Pete Edwards earlier and he likes strong competition. I know Bill Richards wants to try and beat him.

It should be a great race as was the one last year!

I'm pretty sure Barry Murphy will be out as well in his new quick KAD Mini-also, there maybe a possiblity of a Dunlop Challenge top runner Miglia coming out to upset the applecart though this is not for sure. Arthur Forster will be out in his Britcar Cooper S (not his JCC car) which is pretty quick though not in Pete Edwards league. Julian Howell knows Brands well and could be one to watch as well. All in all a great days racing should be in order unlike up at Silverstone!

well actually!!!!....the worlds fastest mini is a dragster!.......think it will have a problem at the first corner though....mind you most drivers have problems negotiating the first corner anyway!!!!!

I hope to be there on Sunday but it all depends if I manage to get my engine/gearbox back into my Mini on Saturday. It needs to be ready for the midnight ferry next Thursday as we're taking it to Valkenswaard.

Peter Baldwin will win the Miglia's. Top man. He's even rolling roading my car next week.

Correct! It expired in the first race last year but stormed the second.

Yep, well done to Pete, it's just a shame Bill couldn't get the Metro back out for the second race - the first race was superb (apart from Bills start - the front brakes were binding so he had trouble getting it off the line). The engine spat it's water out so Bill had no option but to pull in but when the car was checked over the team also found a rear radius arm broken and one drive shaft getting dodgy so the Metro wasn't able to get back out again which was a shame.

Bill did ask if he could use one of his minis for the second race but wasn't allowed - apparently it was a "health and safety problem" and "it would be dangerous to have someone of his experience at the back of the grid".

The Metro took pole and fastest lap in the first race so that's some consolation

Pete tells me the front chassis member snapped on lap 3 in the second race! It would be great to see more Minis out next year.

It snapped in qualifying too didn't it? Pete did mention getting a new chassis for the car, sounds like a good idea to me
