ERC Holjes - Sweden

Is there someone who has allready been to Holjes ?
If anybody can help me to find a B&B, I should be very happy.
It doesn't have to be close to the circuit.
Thanks.

Every year the same situation, people asking for B&B or hotels concerning the ERC round at Höljes…

Nope, no B&B in those so-called Finn Woods. Yep, hotels are available, but not close to the circuit anyway. One needs to drive at least 40 to 50 kms, to more southern places in Sweden or to places in Norway.

Doing Holjes without staying in the woods at the track is like jelly without ice cream.
You can find places to stay some freinds rent a house nearby but its probably more expensive than the best hotel in Stockholm.

I once rented a so-called "Stugan" at the skiing resort Brannäs, about 40 kms south of Höljes. But IMO that is only an interesting alternative if a group of at least 3 or 4 people is sharing the costs.

@ Eye: I guess the 'Wärdshus' is always fully booked already after the ERC round of the previous year… 'Långberget' was usually booked by the officials, possibly still these days… 'Värmlandsporten' is a bloody long way to go. I stood there one year, as it was (and still is?) run by four times ERC winner Olle Arnesson or actually his sambo Gun-Britt.

I don’t think that "Vandrarhemmet" means rooms in the hotel itself. IIRC they also do cottages (in Swedish 'Stuga', in Norwegian 'Hytte').

I would suggest just stay at the "camping" near the circuit: it is one massive folk party! Starting already on thursday (there is also driving for press day)...

I asked my colleague JKR where to stay. I've got a hotel in Norway, Trysil. About 60 km from Holjes. You will not get much closer, or you should stay at a camping.

You bet We always stop at Värmlandsporten on our way home to buy some candy, sodas or fill up the tank. But I have never been inside the hotel. Are there any signs of Olle’s RC career in the hotel?

Yes! Totally forgot about that! Was nice to see the action, the cars and the "upper" paddock...

At least I did not see any when I was there. Olle is not a poser anyway, just a normal bloke from the woods.

The entrylist on Rallycross.com looks promising... Only Kuypers and Pauwels are missing at the moment...

paul1982 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid

I go to Höljes know for the third time in a row and i have to say:
The camping around the track make it the best race there is!
(including the pressday and supper national and thespectaculair track)
But everybody is nice and it is a real party!!
One thing i can not sat from the france erc (were i prefere a hotel)
The entrylist is awsome!

one question for the guru!(or somebody else).

I read in the regulations that there is a maximum of starters in the erc (90) and in SN (20).
But know there are 99 drivers on the list (ERC) without the 2 expected russian drivers.
What are the going to do in this kind of situation!

Whaterver it is i will leave on wednesday and looking (again) really forward to the best race of the year!!!

Update looks even more better! Still no Kuypers and Pauwels?

Too bad the washmachine broke ($$$) and I can get off early enough: only possible option would be to fly from Eindhoven at Friday 4PM to arrive in Stockholm at 6PM and than rent a car (not cheap for 1 person) and drive 7-8 hours... Do-able but not easy to achive...

For those flying to Oslo (which is closer to the track): there are rumors about some sort of strike some dag next week! Be aware and check the news!

In what regulations did you read that 90 starters is the max?

Quote from the current FIA rules:

4. ORGANISATION OF EVENTS
4.2 The maximum total number of starters for all
Divisions will be specified in the Specific Regulations
of each Event.
In a meeting of the FIA European Rallycross
Championships, no other race may be organised with
the exception of a support race with not more than 20
cars.

@ paul1982: Just understood from Frank Van Rooy that the Höljes organisers have restricted their event to a max of 90 starters in their supp regs. I did only check the FIA regs so far. However, I think that in this case some entries on the list will be refused in due time to keep it to 90.

But it is a shame if the must refused drivers. at this moment they are also standing on the list. So i wonder how the take the drivers how maybe not take part in the event.

We shall see.

What will the order be? First come, first to drive? Standings in ERC? And which Division will be limited?

Do not forget, an entrant is not automaticly a starter! And due to the rules "priority will be given to the 15 leading point scorers in each Division in the Championship classification".

I like the politically correct use of a Euro flag Edd!! If I was you I would put the German one back up! You deserve to! At least we can claim a few ERC titles over Germany!!
