What were the Kessel guys doing here?

I was under the impression that whilst the 430 and Scuderia GT3s were built by them, Micholotto built the 458 cars

Great weekend, great racing, access is sensational and didn't see a loud drunk all weekend (well not during daylight, we were camping after all) I'm done going to the 1000 now.

Apparently they sacrificed that car in event of either #95 or #96 running into trouble. When they saw race was down to about 10 minutes to go, they sent out #59 to score third in class...

We just got home tonight. Great race, fantastic event. Third year for us, we'll be back again next year.
Only minor complaint is that the increasing success of the B12 is attracting some of the knuckle dragging brigade. Blocked a few good photo opportunities but hey , lucky they can't be bothered moving their fat ar$es out from under their tarps, off the fence line at the top of the mountain. Walked many klms across the top and down to Forrest's elbow. Is it possible to take a bad shot at that place?

im reading it was a tactical move, Not sure what that means, a back up maybe , it gave them a third car so they could have a class, without it they were running class D
dont think it would be a cost saving thing but maybe, did all its drivers qualify for the race i wonder

seemed ok when it did the final lap

One thing that really annoyed me was the people who parked their cars on top of the spectator mounds in the shade and took away some quality spectating places or at least ones that were not in the blazing sun. Especially the ones in front of the big screen at the top

We walked around the top of the mountain also. its a long walk back up from the elbow on a 40ish degree day

Correct, but kessel are still the agents you're supposed to deal with regarding sales and assistance for ALL Ferrari GT3.

They sent two guys. One for MM, one floater.

And as far as I know, and I know because I asked a month ago how much they'd cost, the floater guy at least was supplied for free.

Bloody excellent service. Cars are expensive, but superb aftersales.

Unless of course, the invoice is in the mail!

What a great wknd at The Mountain. The 12hr is on it's way up now! Having been to all the 12hr and 24Hr races we have seen it all, and this year was the best since the 24hr races.
Well done to Ferrari, great racing after being a lap down. Congrats JB, CL, Mika Salo and Peter Edwards.

Catching up on the event replay now. What an event this is - and reading this thread, I'm glad to see everyone else feels the same.

I certainly want to visit Bathurst when I'm older and this race has probably swung the decision of which event I go to. I'd probably enjoy the atmosphere at the 1000 but full blown GT3 cars on the mountain at sun-rise....as a petrol head, it doesn't really come much better than that. This race is a modern classic, no doubt about it.

I would also like to echo those that suggest TUSCC are spectacularly missing out with not using Radio Le Mans. It really makes me a proud Brit that someone like Hindy, who doesn't have what might be considered the "normal" British accent overseas, has become seen as the standard by which others are judged. He called the race magnificently along with the superb Paul Truswell. Looks like the locals have taken to both of them well.

A shout out also goes to the other commentator who I hadn't heard before. What's his name? Really enjoyed listening to him and there appeared to be a bit of chemistry between him and Hindy. It wouldn't surprise me if he joined the RLM roster for the big one in the future.

On another note, the race has brought hope for 2014 in general as a motor sport enthusiast. 2013 was a tough year for so many reasons, but I think the events of Saturday afternoon at LM last year were rock bottom. The 12 Hours could not have been more of a class act in its remembrance of Allan Simonsen, and the epic nature of the race itself, especially the pace of it, was perhaps the most fitting tribute of all.

Forget Sebring. This is the 12 Hours now.

The other fellow in the booth was Aaron Noonan, who is very quickly gaining a reputation as a first-class commentator.

I would have guessed the commentator in question was Richard Craill - he spent much more time calling the race and was fantastic as usual.
The RLM guys really are a class act, great to have them in Oz. I've been following the big French race online through then for more than a decade, well before video streaming was available. Such a trip-out hearing them call our local sprint.

That's debatable, but I would of thought he was talking about Richard Craill. His commentary style has greatly improved, at the B12 anyway. Aus commentators just have to get this continuous and annoying habit of ongoing comparisons to V8SC out of their commentary. That will probably take care of itself in the future as the B12 has now taken over as the premier motorsport event in the country now.

Hindhaugh is the only person I know, other than my Son, who can talk for 12 or 24hrs straight!! Well done to the whole Media team - the coverage of the event was fantastic and made for a very enjoyable weekend for me and my boy on The Mountain.

Great racing all weekend and huge congratulation to the MM team on the win. Massive effort.

Yeah, anyone who listened to the absolutely crap Daytona 24 commentary this year from those clowns at MRN will know how bad it can detract from an event. Getting the Radio Le Mans team back on board would probably be a close second to getting a quality entry list sorted for 2015.

Embarrassed yourself by asking the wrong person?

I looked around for you but couldn't see any jbs shirts. But if the Clearwater incident happened in front of you as it did me we would've been pretty close!
