I watched these guys at Zolder last weekend.. The race on Saturday was the best of the weekend and far better than anything I've seen from the BTCC this year.
Apparently there was a few cars missing (including the Holden Commodore), but still a good grid with 6/7 old ST cars. Plus some Cossies, a mighty quick Vectra SRI and lots of mad Dutch guys in BMW's, one Saab, Maserati (more money than sense, I think) and 2 Renualt 5's... Lot's of good overtaking (makes a change from BTCC!!!), and incidents.. Garry Woodcocks Nissan from 1998 was the quickest, but only managed to win Sunday's race after qualifing badly due to a fuse going.. |

Was impressed with this series last year when we saw them at Donington - especially the Commodore (and it's oilscreen!) BTW, Rik Wood was racing in the GT's at Silverstone...
Hope to get out and see them again this year. |

Yep.
Its a good show. I remember the very first race. However, wait until it gets really popular. Then the authorities will ban anything competitive on the grounds of cost. Or am I being cynical? |

I hope to be able to see them at the end of August, and I'm really looking forward to it.

Come to Combe.. From what I can remember, I think the 28 August is about the best meeting of the year. I think that the Radicals have a big race that day as well.

ARGH! Too many things to see, not enough time! Formula Saloons are on at Castle Combe on 28th August. This clashes with the BTCC at Brands, but since we've been to Brands a couple of times this year, and never yet to Castle Combe, plus it's the only time we're likely to get to see the FSaloons, that's where we'll be. As far as the CSCC goes, that's 19th - 20th, and I have a classic car show on the Saturday and an RC event on the Sunday, so I'll have to cheer you on by telepathy, I'm afraid.

The Formula Saloon series is starting to sound very interesting as they have a class for ST cars. 12++ ST cars are entered, but how many will appear each race is unknown. A minimum 4 cars are racing each time. The '96 Accord team is being assisted by Pat Watts!
Check out the May 2000 issue of Car (??) for an 5 page article on FS ST cars! |

Thanks for the clarification Sparky. I was thinking of spending my hard earned minimum waged money on that issue just b/c of that 5 page ST feature!! =)
"Just" 30K pounds for a '96 spec chassis, '97 aero aid Accord!! Man, that is a killer deal!! |
