Hard choice. Russell over Perez.

Perez today. Can't think of a crash, last place, and win since Button in Canada, yet alone in the dry and yet alone for a midfield team. Hopefully it will be Russell next weekend...

Oh jeeez that’s a tough one. I’d normally choose Russell, he was faultless....but Checo....I mean, it’s his first and possibly only win so it goes to him

Perez. Kudos to George Russell. Overtook Bottas 3 times on merit.

I feel a bit bad not selecting Russell. He was superb.
But Checo did something wonderful. Raced all the way from last place and facing the wrong way to a first ever win. Special. It's his day. Last edited by Knowlesy; 6 Dec 2020 at 20:05. |

Question
Quote:
I gave it to George this week. Drove brilliantly, but missed out because of Mercedes. |

SOOOOO close between Russell and Perez but for mine it's Russell by a nadgins. Great drive from the back for Checo but his very, very small racing error in leaving the door too open for Leclerc on the opening lap marks him down in comparison to George, who was peerless at all points during the race (& managed to stop at the correct pit bay each time).

Great Kudos to Checo, but I can't see how anyone can vote against Russell - who in his first race in a car that doesn't fit him was able to make the second-placed driver in the Championship look ordinary. Would have won by a country mile if Mercedes hadn't screwed up royally.

George Russell!!! Many people believed he is the real deal. Now we all know it.
Obviously the other contender was Checo. Last on the first lap, then all the way through to win the race. What is going through the minds of the RP management? Sack today’s winner for the driver who was 12th. Sack the driver who is 4th in the championship for the one who is 12th. Sack the ultimate “safe pair of hands” for the driver who has been consistently making mistakes for the past 2 years. |

Gave it to George. Brilliant drive, took to the Merc like a duck to water, and was so unlucky not to win. But he should get plenty more chances in the future based on that drive. For Checo he might not get another chance, so I was glad he won

I fear it may be one of the last times I can vote for Perez (as it stands) and he did deserve it. Gutted for George but his time will come. The question is when rather than if...

Really tough decision between Checo and George. I give it eventually to George for being close to perfection all weekend and making his experienced teammate look a complete dummy. He thoroughly deserved the win and only Mercedes' hapless pitstops ruined his day. On the other hand, if George couldn't win it, I can't think of anyone else who could possibly have deserved it more than Checo. Spun around by a crass move by Leclerc (undoubted speed there but questionable racecraft) and won the race from the back. It will be one of the greatest absurdities in F1 history if Checo doesn't have an F1 drive next season.
