Steve Barber has entered my Golf into the CT race and he's showing as first reserve - anyone know of any CT entries showing on the list that definitely won't be there?
Oh - and if anyone happens to have a 4.25 CWP from a 1300 5 sp Maestro box lying around the house I'd be very interested... |

I have a feeling a std Maestro one isn't correct, you need a Maestro van. I presume you have the right codes to look for. By the way, saw Will McAteer at the weekend. He asked me to say that he was mightily entertained by your idea of a Golf build cost, and if you think his cars worth the money you say, you're welcome to rent it. He's building it up to come out hopefully at Mallory. Stacy |

Pete - you do need a Maestro 1300 van. Currently though they're pretty rare, I'm on the lookout for one myself!
I've got a spare 4-speed in the garage, but not sure about the CWP ratio. Will check later. |

The information I had said that it was a 1300 or 1600 Maestro hatch (or van). However I do have the correct gearbox code so whatever the thing comes off I can check - I need AVX. Most of these gearboxes are lying around in scrapyards out of the vehicle they originated in anyway. I was really hoping to find somewhere that made the 4.25 CWP new.
I'm fairly sure I need a 5 Speed CWP, the four speed one won't fit - thanks anyway. I don't suppose you have a Haynes Manual that confirms what final drive was in which car? |

Pete, I have a Haynes that will confirm the ratios, but it's 9 miles away at the garage right now. I'll check up tonight and post tomorrow.
Just noticed you've posted on the Maestro and Montego OC forums as well I asked the same question about 8 months ago, so I'll have a look for the answers.. Last edited by Chris Y; 6 May 2003 at 14:39. |

Indeed - cheers Chris Y and well spotted! The reply from there was;
1.3, 1.3L, 1.3LX, 1.3 Clubman, 1.3HL 4.25:1 500 Van (1.3 or 1.6) 4.25:1 1.6 700Van with S-Series Engine (6S Gearbox) 4.25:1 I'm sorry with boring everyone on here with this, I'm sure the final drive ratio of a Maestro gearbox is not the most interesting topic in the world so someone racing an SD1... |

Perhaps I should start a thread on the Ford / BMC diff combination ratio's that are used in some Clubmans cars - yes really - BMC diff & ford internals. We could title it "Ratio's I have known"...

Mr Nixon - referring to the reserves question, I have a vested interest as my friend is second reserve! Mr Underwood in his delightful 635 didnt turn up at Thruxton but he was at BH last year the other doubt could be Brian in the XJS - he blew up bigtime while at Rockingham so I wonder if his rebuild will be complete - last year we had 18 for prac. and only 12 made it to the grid from memory so I think there's a good chance - gonna be tricky to get a clear lap with 32 cars out there qualifying.........

Slowcoach - don't forget there were two races last year, Classic Thunder and Pre 90. We had 20 in Pre 90.
