Sounds like there is some grumbling in the GA paddock regarding the DPG3's. Racecar Engineering has an article with quotes from Max Angelelli, saying how the cost and time frame were prohibitive for many of the teams. He thinks 80% of the teams will still be with the old cars.

Sunburst racing?

Hey, here's a great idea, let's keep our cars ugly and unappealing to most of the potential fans.

Well, Riley will have the new generic body and since almost everybody runs a Riley, quite a few teams will switch to that, so I think the split between old and new cars will be around 70-30 in favor of the new cars - if not for the 24 then later in the season...

I noticed that too, pretty funny.

Did anybody else get the impression from the article that Suntrust racing is working on one thing for 2012, but then plans on something else for 2013?

I've been wondering when we would see the Corvette DP, and it looks like it may be debuted at the SEMA show next week in Las Vegas (according to Mr De Lorenzo).

I think Mr. De Lorenzo may be suffering from breathing open headers off an Owens Corning '69 Vette, he left Indy off the G/A schedule. Not that many people other than racing G/A @ Indy will show-up. Still......

That's not the only thing... 'Grand Am Cup' has been Koni/Conti-Challenge for the last 5 years.

And it's all really just the same old BS from him, with some parts of the article probably being simple copy-and-paste-jobs from stuff he wrote some months/weeks ago.

Thought the Grand Am 458 had been canned as it was uncompetitive and would cost to much to get it competitive?

No, no, no. It was s**t-canned because Ferrari got second thoughts about racing against the Mazda.

Whats the deal with the schedule? Is it normal for it to be released this late? Surely it would be tough to convince sponsors to come on board without being able to tell them where you'll be racing.

Well we know a few dates at least - Daytona Jan 28-29, Detroit June 2, Indy July 27. So 3 months until 1st event...but the GA website has just 2 things listed for the 2012 schedule, the Roar before the 24 and the 24. Shouldn't it say something about the rest of the schedule being forthcoming?

So Montreal is back? I hadn't heard anything about the deal being re-upped or what the status was. Also, if Grand-Am drops the Memorial Day Lime Rock date, the ALMS needs to pick it up for various reasons.

Nationwide is back at Montreal next year so I assume Grand Am will be.

Three races next year (Daytona, Indianapolis and Watkins Glen) for a team running for charity purposes, with AC/DC's lead vocalist Brian Johnson as part of the driving squad.

An Aug 17 season ending race seems a bit early. I wonder if there is a plan to get Mid-Ohio back to end the season, or even Miller?

Rumblings around Mid Oh are that it will maintain the same basic weekend it had last year.

Interesting twitter message from GrandAm:

We will be taking questions for the 2012 schedule Q&A from our @RolexSeries and @CT_Challenge Twitter feeds & facebook.com/GRANDAMRoadRac…
I don't get it, what questions? A schedule is a pretty straight forward thing: Here are the places we will race and on which days.
Unless they try and pull some ALMS TBD trick, this should be a cut and dry announcement tomorrow.....

Well, with the mess in IndyCar, everybody else's schedules are kind of up-in-the-air until the boys at Indy get things sorted on their end.

Simple, questions like why was this circuit dropped (?) or why did this race move from Date A to B?

I actually wish the ALMS did this so I could ask them where the heck the *TBD International Raceway* is, sounds like a popular venue.

I think TBD is actually a dragstrip, so I don't know how ALMS would race there!

Another point of view---from the guy with the easiest sponsor hunt!

@jfoster4055 Joe Foster
Really really frustrated with the lack of a complete Grand Am schedule. This is seriously hampering the search for proper sponsorship!
