Maybe they asked the slower car at the time to move over to avoid contact? Either way, looks to me like both cars have been given a fair chance at victory.

tbh we only lost 1 good LMP1 privateer. No matter what the #10 does, it'll never be able to compete with a Bronze driver in it. And ByKolles...well.

Gap at the front is 19 seconds. If Buemi catches them, will he be allowed to pass? And gap third to fourth is 2 seconds.

On the topic of TV directors, these helicopter shots of London are amusing. That's a good 2 hours away from Silverstone, but hey!

The Turbo v NA looks about right yeah. The Rebellion pulled alongside and after the SMP would the AER up, it pulled alongside. Certainly, there didn't appear to be much difference between the engines.

The SMP looked much harder to drive during qualifying. It was fast but it was absolutely all over the place. It's not a surprise they've lost a bit of speed to make it driveable over a race distance.

I'd go so far as to say it looked quite a handful, so the fact they seem to be decently matched to the Rebellions is quite good.



The only bad thing is these cars will all be obsolete when they are finally fully developed as the ACO have this "hypercar" concept they insist to force upon the world.

Thirty cars and all those different potential strategies ... "You need to be a super nerd with a super computer to keep up with it." Um ... NASCAR does it without even teeth.

I love the strategy calls. This form of racing is so mature, so well-developed .... the hot carts are just a bonus almost.

Although one element of those strategic/tactical options has been removed with the tyre change during refuelling rule. Changing two tyres takes less time than changing all four but that doesn't matter any more. I really don't understand why they made that change.

They said it was to make pit stops look more spectacular/exciting. I'd argue it has not done that, but it has made strategy calls worse.

Is that seriously the reason? Style over substance? Pathetic, and as you say, ineffectual.

Not only should fuel and tyres be separated but in the interests of safety, they should only be allowed to refuel on the jacks, like in Aussies Supercars. That way no one pulls away with the fuel hose attached.

I often deride Silverstone, but this time it’s just worked for me. While there are the fences (not a Silverstone unique situation) I have loved the times I’ve been able to get really close to the cars. I think I’ve been a bit unfair.

Just a couple of highlights, but watching the cars barely into Maggots or Copse only 10-20ft away is great.
