Alan Morgan should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
At the last count we had 16 Historic FF2000s. I hear there may be 30 cars for the Guards Trophy. I'm sure the entry list will be up on the HSCC site before too long.

Thanks Alan - sounds promising, our fear locally was that not many would turn up being in between the Silverstone Classic and the Gold Cup etc.

Entry list now on the HSCC site here...

http://www.hscc.org.uk/resources/Pro...oft%202010.pdf

It looks quite respectable in most races. I'm really looking forward to the weekend.

Just noticed it as well - pleasantly surprised at the number entries. Should be a good weekend.

Entry is a lot better than I was expecting, good to see a couple of the Imps there as well. Looks like it could be a cracking weekend, just hope the weather holds for Croft's sake if nothing else.

Since my last post in April our baby daughter has been born and having survived the first 3 months I am starting to venture out and about a bit again. Due to date clashes and the small matter of being a Dad now, I can only do a couple of more events this year. I had dismissed this one in favour of Rallycross at Mallory but I am very tempted, very tempted indeed. Croft needs all the support it can get and it's my local 'ish track.

I note the instructions say safety checking until 7pm so I presume it's open at least until then but from local knowledge I think it's a fair bit later. If it's any help the circuit number is 01325 721815 - might be worth checking with them just to make sure.

Looking forward to the weekend - good to have the HSCC up here!

Sunshine and a few showers on a very good first day of this meeting. A few samples below, more to follow after tomorrows races:

Any pics of a Mr Goldfinch? A mate of mine. Heard he had an excursion into a wheat field!

Car 50 in the Historic FF race? He finished 19th, a lap down on the winner Darren Burke. I didn't see the wheat field 'off' - I suspect this would have been about 1/2 mile further on from where I took the photos below at a corner called Tower - a difficult (for some!) right-hander where if you go off you can make it through the gravel trap and into the farmer's field beyond (no barriers etc) and then make a leisurely return back onto track. Can't easily photograph that point unless you have a media pass so for 'us amateurs' it's difficult to capture.

I'll keep an eye out from him later today.

Gary

Roger,

Further to my earlier reply - 'duff gen' on my part - he actually finished 14th in the first Historic FF race and 9th in the Classic Racing Cars. In today's FF race he retired on lap 1 - not sure why - and don't think he appeared in the second CRC race.

Another good day which seems to have been successful for Croft - I hope the HSCC agree and return next year. Photos to follow during the coming week.

Gary

I just had a message from him. Someone spun in front of him and they tangled. A shame as he needed signatures on his licence.

I agree with Gary, yesterday was excellent. I'm only sorry that I could not be there today. Hopefully, the event will return again next year. I've attached a few photos and will add others in the next few days.

Wheat fields aren't normally the natural habitat of Goldfinches, are they? Perhaps this one got blown off course!

Race 1 - Historic Formula Ford

The first race was greeted by a heavy shower of rain which continued throughout most of the race. It was won from pole by Oliver Thorpe in a Royale (car 48), with Tom Pope (car 26 a Reynard) second. Derek Smith (car 10 a Delta) had a storming drive from 14th on the grid to finish third. A few photos:

Has Mr Goldfinch provided the answer to the ongoing discussion as to the cause of crop circles?

Attended over the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. Hopefully the HSCC will stick with Croft as this has the makings of a regular fixture. Just need the date to be not so close to other events to get the grid numbers up a bit. Some of the classes were a bit light but didn't take away from the event.
