Renault launch!
Renault Launch article
I think the car looks very cool, reminds me of the 1996 and 1997 Benetton, but with a bit more yellow in this new version Last edited by FullMonty; 27 Jan 2002 at 11:36. |

Is there anybody that knows where there are some high resolution pictures??
Is it just me or is the bottom of the nose lower than we have seen so far in other cars? It may be a copy cat, but at least it is a better looking copy cat that the BAR is. |

yeah, but that livery wont be staying, at least the tobbaco of it wont. I dont know where those pics came from coz the launch apparently didn't have the tobacco tag written on the car.
Does anyone know the actual name of the car, or what will be replacing the Mild Seven, tobacco livery!? |

The colour scheme on the Benno is the worst I have ever seen. I just hope it looks better in the flesh then is does in a drawing.

I can honestly say it looks worse than the BAR livery.

i dont really mind the livery, except the lollipop colours, but the driver's racing suits, it took me a while to figure out that they were Jenson and Jarno, not just the team mechanics adjusting the ramp or car.
But really, the suits...holy crud..... |

That car needs more white. I think it'll be one of those liveries you get used to as the season progresses.

It looks a bit odd, with all that yellow, but it'll probably grow on me.
But the SUITS!!! Who designed them?! |

No no, the car isn't that bad really, but yes! Those suits- they're disgusting! Bloody hell, that's going to be an incentive for Bunsen to try to get back to Williams...

BTW it's rather ironic that they call it "100% Renault" when it's actually a yellow Benetton |

Are you sure someone actualy designed the suits?????
It looks to me someone just put two pieces of fabric together that were laying around somewhere. The car looks fine in my opinion, a lot better than the BAR or the Minardi. |

yeah i know about the french tobacco laws, that was my question, sorry, i must have written it incorrectly. Its a guess between Jarno and Jenson, maybe cover it with another sponsor, or change it to a whaccy Jordan based Buzzin Hornets-like configuration.
But i am actually liking the car a bit more now, maybe they will tone down the paint as it gets on, or we will definately get used to it. And the suits better be changed, otherwise for the drivers, they will face further immbarrasment than their car breaking down, HAHAHAHAH they'll have to get back to the pits somehow. Maybe Jenson will get a chopper. |

Aint too bad IMO better than Minardi's.. vibrant colours and simple...but definitely not the best livery around.
The yellow bit on the rear with RENAULT printed on reminds me of the Williams 96/97 livery, just different, and lesser, colours.. |

Hmmm.... yes... wellllll...... atch, the more you look at it, the more the colour scheme is.... OK!!! Not great. Not the prettiest. But OK. Not bad. More blue than what I was expecting. I was imagining something that resembled the Renaults of old a bit more.
As for the car, it doesn't look very special (a bit like then new Jag or BAR atch. But then so does the Williams). In a word, as Willybums showed us last year, very conservative LOOKING cars can do very well. IF this engine really is revolutionary, then we ould be in for a surprise. AND the more I look at it, the cleaner it looks (nice back end, very low over the sidepods and rear susp.) Could fly. But I doubt it, personally. |

Hard colours to work with, it sure looks nasty from the front. They seem to think it will run ok though, and thats the main thing.

I don't think I've EVER seen anything more unfortunate. As for the whole, package, the only good thing you can say about it is that its distinctive, but then that's following the publicist's theory that ANY publicity is good publicity. Unfortunately, we may find them running toward the front this year-look for them on a TV set near you. As for Bunson, in the shot of him on the Daily F1 site, actually looks embarrassed. Quote:
