VTOL aicraft Moved to Parc ferme
Has world war three broken out and I missed the announcement?
For the last couple of hours a couple of VTOLs which look like the V-22 Osprey have been circulating, landing briefly on the abandoned airfield half a mile behind my house, taking off again, b*ggering off then coming back half an hour later and doing the same thing. At the same time a fixed wing jet has been flying a very wide circle at quite low altitude. All this between 10-00 pm and midnight and those VTOLs are loud and very spooky looking. The jet has the normal red navigation light but the VTOLs have green lights. The V-22 Ospreys were around last week at a more reasonable 6-00 pm time but only landed once before taking off again and disappearing. Does anybody know if it is possible to find out movements of military/civil aircraft? I would love to know what they are doing. |

The US Ospreys will be training flights usually in company of MC130J Commando II ( the J Herc version of the combat Talon) both are from the the 352 Special Operations Wing out of Mildenhall
The RAF are taking advantage or reduced civilian traffic to run training and familiarity flights around the UK civilian airports. Try one of the flight radar apps, or web sites such as adsbexhange but not Flightglightradar24 as that rarely shows military aircraft. Also keep an eye on this thread in Parc Ferme as there has been talk of recent military aircraft activity there as well. |

Weird looking and sounding things, and quite a common sight here in Thirsk. The local paper had a story about an old dear in Wensleydale who thought the Osprey she'd seen was one of them there drones the police were using (or , in daft police speak, 'deploying ') to deter visitors in the lockdown . I reckon it was tracking Dominic Cummings ....

As our Scots friend says try the ADS B web site it even has tTyphoons & F35's on it these days although lots of ilitary helicopters do not have he trackers fitted as yet and when flying in pairs only one will showon the radar.
Planefinder is another useful site. |

I'm not sure what VTOL aircraft have to do with historic racing so the thread has been copied to Parc Ferme https://tentenths.com/forum/showthread.php?t=155206
