What is the highest number of revs recorded on an engine during an F1 Grand Prix?[/QUOTE]

It must be the Lotus gas turbine car, but no idea how many !

Maybe a plane buff knows these types of numbers ?

Was it when Lotus ran a BRM H16 and probably another engine, Climax?

If its a turbine we're looking for, the starter only gives 25k rpm.

I think our resident Smart RRR's is referring to the 1968 Dutch Grand Prix when Stewart won driving a Matra Cosworth, and Beltoise finished second in a Matra- Matra.

However, in 1967 Coopers finished first and second in South Africa with Rodriguez using a Maserati engine and Love a Climax, although they were driving for different teams.
Maybe RB knows better though.

Not a bad guess John, but as you probably found out points only went to 5th place back then.

Yes, RB Reg scored in two races that year, France and Britain, but he was driving the Thinwall Ferrari in the French GP.

1982 Canada, Piquet Brabham BMW, Patrese Brabham Cosworth.
Voila!
