RIKB should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Johnny Herbert seems to have blotted his copy book this weekend in Canada, and has probably sealed his fate in F1 at the same time. If I may quote from Autosport
Quote:
"The car is almost exactly the same as the one we had in Melbourne," he said. "There has been almost no development at all and I am not aware of any more coming. Cosworth are bringing out a new engine in time for Austria, but that’s it. All we have done this year is get on top of the engine reliability problem, but we’re still having everything else break."

"Really this team is still Stewart. There have been no staff changes since last year after all. Jackie and Paul have gone, but that’s it. This is still a small team – if you look at Stewart’s history, it was all **** apart from last year, when they lucked into a good car."
No more Mr Nice Guy, so it would seem.

So where to in 2001? Cart? Sportscars?

It's about time he got that attitude. Sadly it seems to coincide with the loss of any form he had I'd like to see him in sportscar racing again.

Oh, fair do's Stout Party.

With that Jag, Fangio and Moss would look like they had lost all form.

I think the only way they're going to get that car to go any faster is by hitting it with a bigger hammer.

And to think that at the start of the season I was going to repeat my little wager on a Herbert win. I'm glad now I stuck with spending the money he earned me at Ladbrokes last year.

Hmm. Herbert in sports cars? Well, that would be yet another reason for a road trip to Le Mans 2001.

Him, and Alesi too, that could be quite a year.

Herbert is right. The Jaguar is rubbish, basically, achieving what little results it has on the merits of it's Cosworth engine.

Go, Johnny, Go

Fourth on Friday had me excited, I even wore a hideous Jaguar Hat on Saturday. The rest of the weekend was a sad series of events. Poor Johnny, (Or as it said over the garage "Johhny") he deserves so much better.

Yep - Jonny's got a right strop on....

I guess this is the frustration of him seeing his GP career coming to an end and being apparantly powerless to stop it.

As for career choice, I think IRL and Cart would be a disaster for him. He does seem to carry 'bad luck' around with him and I would hate to see him end his career in an Oval wall.

Everybody in IRL or Cart hits the wall at some point and with his previous injuries, that sort of impact would be a disaster for Jonny - and would it be worth it.

Nelson Piquet though he could re-kindle his career in indy cars, ended up in the wall and apparantly is still in pain today (article in F1 Racing..), this is from a driver who barely got a scratch in a F1 car.

Sports cars or nothing for Jonny...I reckon

See? It all becomes clear. If Minardi had last year's Cosworth engines, which we all thought they were going to get, Jaguar would be down at the bottom with Prost. Even with an engine 2 years better, and remember that Minardi's engine was rubbish in the first place ('98 Stewart), they still can't convincingly beat Gene and Mazzacane.

GO MINARDI!

JH seems to have realised that he has gone past his best before date.
Wee Jackie was rating EI as a good development guy last year, so what has happened on that score?

Rumor has Jaguar interested in testing Dario Franchiti. Hmmm, Johnny going to CART? Jag likes Dario? Maybe Johnny in a Team Kool Green and Dario in a Jag would be good for both teams, and series.

EERO, how much for that hideous Jag cap?

Mhhhh. I think that there will be a Franchitti-Herbert swap next year but I'm not sure that JB will find what he's looking for. I think (I'm just speculating) that he could be moving to CART thinking that he will have his last chance for success there....but be careful JH. CART is not as easy as some think. It's become quite competitive in the past few years and although there are really teerrible drivers there are also a lot of top class drivers and your years of F1 experience is no guarantee for success. Just ask Mark Blundel how he is doing in the chmpionship.

And what super tourer says about hitting the wall is true.Furthermore, I once heard a retoired driver say that as you become older the crashes with the wall hurt much more.....and JH is not exactly a youngster any more....
