Arrows For Sale

http://www.dovebid.com/auctions/brow...AuctionID=2077

Well it's a sad, sad way for the team to end...pages and pages of shoes, engines, sunglasses, car bits, model cars etc being sold of. Click Equipment Catalog on the side for a full listing.

I can't decide if I prefer the V-10, incomplete, undamaged, or the set of three three-seaters with ancillary equipment. Of course, for the same 200 pound reserve, there's always the set of 5 nylon wallets...

Mind you, I've always wanted fire-proof underwear and red suede boots to go with. And a boatload of hand tools, of course.

Why, why, why so many pairs of utterly un-F1-related shoes? Gives you an insight into what they spent money on; and one feels so sad for the guys who got their names painted on helmets which are now up for sale.

A sad way to end, indeed.

I felt the same way about the helmets with the mechanics names on them.

You know, the time I spent waiting in line at Indianapolis in 2000 to snaffle the very last Arrows Lost Boys Repsol etc. etc. hat (unpinned from the wall, at my insistence), seems well spent now -- got it for $35, rather than $300+...

That is just too cool! But maybe the team should have been more focused on their car, rather than building stuff.

A podium jacket? Kind of optimistic don't you think?

at the podium jacket. I guess even Minardi would have one or two lying around in the garage somewhere...

I wouldn't mind the three seaters but with the podium jacket at least you know it's never been used.

looking through that shows how much stuff is required by an F1 team, although there was a lot of merchandise, is this a vital revenue sourse for an F1 team?

And finally, there’s the upcoming auction of the remains of the bankrupt Arrows Formula 1 team. Rumour has it that Minardi already has bought some A23 chassis'. The cars have recently been taken off the auction list provided by Dovebid, which would implicate that the A23's have been sold prior to going to auction. If this rumour is true, then it will be very interesting to see what Minardi intends to do with those chassis. The most likely story is that Minardi will use some vital parts of the A23, to integrate with their PS03’s, like the gearbox and rear suspension. Less likely - but then again: everything is possible with Paul Stoddart at the helm – would be that the A23’s will be treated with a black-white-red-green paint job, to replace the struggling PS03’s in the very near future!

Damn, if only they'd concentrated more on the shoe side of the business they might still be with us.

Yes it was:

Australia 2002:

15 Heinz-Harald Frentzen Orange Arrows 1:29.474

Australia 2003:

18 Jos Verstappen Minardi Cosworth 1:30.053

Malaisia 2002:

11 Heinz-Harald Frentzen Orange Arrows 1:37.919

Malasia 2003:

18 Jos Verstappen Minardi Cosworth 1:38.904

BTW: I took last years qualifying times and this years prequal times.

It might be worth remembering that Paul has a good collection of F1 cars apart from Minardi's.

These are often seen in films and commercials with suitable paintwork and bodywork changes. They might not be for F1 racing but rather a cheap investment for the future.

Who knows, but it'd be greating see the revival of the A23, that was a great chassis. It only scored points twice, but it was often matching teams with far more funding. If their reliability and development had been better 5-6 points was not out of the question.

If they have bought the chasis, I'd doubt they'd actually race them. They'll proabably use them for research, maybe throw them in a wind tunnel and see where they could improve their own car. It's not like Minardi has anything to lose.

It's been reported that Paul Stoddart yesterday purchased all 5 Arrow A23 during the sale of Arrows assets.
What on earth is he going to do with those? Surely the money would've been better invested in Minardi if he was serious about the team.
I know it could well be personal money but it doesnt look very good when hes been pleading poverty then two days after receiving a financial boost from Bernie he goes on a spending spree buying two year old F1 cars...despite how promising a car the A23 looked it's not even as if hey can rebadge them and call the Minardi's...what's he up to?

Apparently he can (so the story went) but I'd like to hear clarification of that from a higher power.
Seems that the simplicity of swapping the current Cosworth engines into the A23s combined with the power steering and the carbon gearboxes (which possibly, just possibly Jaguar were interested in acquiring) proved too much of a temptation. But..yeah, where did a guy pleading poverty get the money?
