Not as daft as it sounds...
An idea for a new forum: Bobsleigh
Before I get laughed off the forum

It is billed as the Winter Formula One
We've got to watch something over winter, and with global warming ice racing is quickly thawing out (no pun intended)
It is common for motorsport fans - Martin Haven does the motorsport over summer and then the Bobsleigh/Bob-skelton/Luge over winter
There's many similarities to motorsport like:
Anyway, just a (sensible, it is sensible, I promise) suggestion. |

How about downhill skiing in that case? The participants themselves call it the "Formula One of skiing".
However, this is not 10 Tenths Speedsport, or 10 Tenths Crashsport, this is 10 Tenths Motorsport. No motor in neither bobsleigh nor downhill skiing, I'm afraid. So posts about those sports should be made in The Gravel Trap. Last edited by R; 15 Dec 2002 at 18:53. |

Well I do like bobsleigh and all sorts of other winter sports, but I have to agree with R - this is a MOTORsports forum and sadly, that means we can't talk about bobsledding..... Although one of the Schumacher brothers did have a go in one last year......

we could have a forum simply marked "other sports" so that any threads all over the place about other sports are just shifted into that one.

These sort of suggestions come up every year or so, especially during the off-season, and we always direct such subjects to the Gravel Trap. Generally the thread suggesting the idea lasts longer than any actual postings about other sports.
As others have already said this is a motorsports forum. I doubt a forum on winter sports would be of interest to more than a handfull of our members. |

I've found an engine in Bobsleigh!!
In the transport trucks..... Point noted, although if 10/10 does ever think of branching out - Bobsleigh better be the first forum created!!!! |

Bobsled, the only sport where you can win a gold medal posthumously.

One of the things I really like about this forum is that there is quite a lot of interest in other sports events. All of this is in the Gravel Trap, and it does just fine there. Right now we have Cricket and the America's Cup races. We usually get some U.S. football posts around Super Bowl time, and the Hockey fans got all wound up during the Winter Games this year.

Hey, before you laugh at skidoo racing, realize it's pretty big here and is probably the most dangerous form of motorsport next some types of motorcyle racing. It's like motorcycle racing, but the riders are 100% blinded by snow when they get going. In fact, Gilles Villeneuve said he had no fear of driving in the rain because it was much safer than the snowmobile racing he'd done in his early years.

I vote for a Snowmobile Racing forum, where we can discuss all our favourite skidoo stars. |
