Old old bathursts??

Hi I was wondering if it was possible to get videos of old bathursts e.g. 1972 thru 1979, I am very interested in them and have no idea if I can buy them or what. Any help would be appreciated. The closest I have seen is the XU-1: when your hot your hot video.

There's the Great Race collection of video's, 1960-66, 67-74, 75-85 (a beauty), 86-92, 93-96, 97-2001....

I've also seen the Holden Bathurst films mentioned here around the place, wouldn't have a clue how to get hold of them though...

Could try Channel 7 as well for the original footage, but they'd charge an arm and a leg for you to get it, if they would even allow it to be sold

Someone recently put an ad in either Auto Fiction or M/Sport News selling copies of these older Group C Bathursts on VHS, whole race from TV.

Ads disappeared pretty quickly, maybe 7's legal department got onto it. Worst thing is I think I threw out the mags!

You definately won't find footage from Channel 7. I know this may be hard to belieive, but from what I've been told, Channel 7 destroyed all their Motor racing footage from pre-1985. Apperately it's buried with a whole lot of eposides of A Country Practice and the like under Channel 7s new building in Sydney. Sounds crazy but my source is very reliable

Apparently they did not want to store them anymore so they have buried them!

Or any good motoring book store will sell you the highlights videos on VHS. I have '67-'74, '75-'85 and '86-92. Great stuff.

I have the whole collection of bathurst on VHS and now DVD and also Australian Touring Cars dating back to 1986 as my mate back then worked for ATLAB and he used to get them. I also have taped races off the TV and a few oldies from ATLAB. The Wheels Bookshop at Parramatta have a great selection of all Motorsport.

I checked the links above but didn't find too many DVD's which is what i'd prefer, so i might have to make do with videos...

I have taped races from the TV from 1981-1985 Touring Car Series and also some AMSCAR and series production but alas quality is pretty poor now as I have watched them over and over and I think the brand of tape I used was krapp.

The ATLAB tapes are from 86-89 Touring car champ and some imports from Duke videos and some coverage of the Sandown races.

God to love that V8 killing Moffat RX-7....

As mentioned the Wheels Bookshop also carries military and aeroplane books and yes its just near the bridge across the road from the OLD David Jones building.
As a bit of bus nut (15yrs with STA now with the T-Way) I have also picked up some get stuff on them.
Great shop..

Can this be officially confirmed anywhere. They could have at least offered it for sale to someone, i'd have found the money somehow to preserve that footage......

You seem to have an awesome collection there Aussie
