Really like the idea of open engines!

Should get the Aussie racing cars and Australian Superbike on the program with the S5000 cars.

Ironically under the engine covers are shiny polished cam covers, plus a big ugly K&N filter box

You could bolt a Lotus 72 style airbox onto the top of the engine and incorporate the K&N filter in it above the inlet trumpets whilst retaining the open engine look.

I think it would give the cars a unique and raw look which would help to market the formula.
Acres of fiberglass may be efficient but is not that interesting to look at.

That is along the lines of the Lola 332 intake that they had on the initial cars. I agree an exposed engine would be a point of difference from other open wheel cars.
