Da Costa From SEAT Eurocup to WTCC
Duarte Félix da Costa has won a one-off participation in the WTCC event at Monza. The 23-year old from Cascais, Portugal,

is the fifth SEAT Eurocup driver during the current season who is given the opportunity to show his talent in the World Touring Car Championship at the wheel of a SUNRED SEAT León TFSI.
After obtaining a number of successes in karting, da Costa raced in the British Formula BMW and the North European Formula Renault championships. In 2007 he moved to the Spanish SEAT Eurocópa (9th in the final classification) and he is currently 7th in the Eurocup after claiming second position in Oschersleben's Race 2.
He is the second Portuguese to win a WTCC participation after his fellow countryman Lourenço Beirão da Veiga in Brands Hatch.

Wichers and Poulsen join forces
After they were forced to skip Imola, the Wiechers-Sport team will come back in forces at Monza. The German outfit will campaign two cars again like they did at Oschersleben.

After they were forced to skip Imola, the Wiechers-Sport team will come back in forces at Monza. The German outfit will campaign two cars again like they did at Oschersleben.

Takayuki Aoki, from Japan, will replace Olivier Tielemans until the end of the season, taking also part in the meetings at Okayama and Macau.

The team's second BMW 320si car will be driven in Monza by Kristian Poulsen from Denmark who competed in three of the previous WTCC meetings (Estoril, Brands Hatch and Oschersleben) with his own team. Poulsen will be at the wheel of the car driven by Duncan Huisman in Oschersleben.

Four drivers come from Japan
A four-driver Japanese patrol will join the FIA WTCC for the season’s final.
The addition of a race meeting at Okayama – on October 26th – has aroused huge interest in the Country of the Rising Sun.

N.technology-Honda and Chevrolet were the first to announce their plans to line up additional cars for Japanese drivers. Yukinori Taniguchi will join N.technology for the events in Monza and Okayama, while Manabu Orido will drive the fourth Chevrolet Lacetti in the same two events plus the championship’s finale in Macau.
In the latest days, two other drivers have announced participation in their home race at Okayama: Takayuki Aoki and Masaki Kano.
Following a deal between Japan-based Endless Racing and Wiechers-Sport, Aoki will take the wheel of the German team's BMW 320si, while Kano will drive for Liqui Moly Team Engstler with which he clinched the 2007 Asian Touring Car Championship crown.
The Japanese drivers presented their plans to the national press last week in Okayama.

thanks Fire for the meeting preview, the Honda looked really fast at Imola in the long straight, so I expect Tommo and N-Technology will do very well at Monza too

Dont forget that the Honda is super light, which helps the top speed.

After having won the last 2 races on the season in STCC I really hope they will be there, altho they probably wont have the same topspeed as the more aero efficient notchbacks they should do quite well. They werent that far off in the speedtrap at Mantorp.

stedevil has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
They got their "wins" already in STCC? Economic recession? New Volvo boss? Thousands of Volvo employees notified of possibly losing their job?

Take your pick.

Interesting Larini dropping back to support Huff by finishing 6th, after a potential re-ordering of positions with Rydell jumping the chicane (clearly Cleland & Martin had different interpretions on that move! )

I'm with John - I reckon Larini nudged him from behind and unsettled him - it wasn't an advantage, more spin avoidance.

Strong race for SEAT...going to be a strange race 2 - Chevrolet looking well placed though.

Why did Muller seemingly let Tarquini past for the lead, then retake the position later in the race with ease without Tarquini even defending ?

Also, just in race 2. Did Tarquini not totally cut the first chicane and gain some places, or was that another Seat ?

Phoa!! Zanardi, Larini and Muller 3-wide!
Too bad, there aren't more of those slipstream-tracks on the schedule! One or two more of those would be a real treat.
OTOH there aren't many left of those with Hockenheim being Tilke-fied.

I saw about 6 cars do that, but no replays. Some people certainly gained more than Rydell did in race one there.

Let's see some consistency! Oh wait, this is the WTCC
