If they do not enter GT1 lets hope they get their act together and are allowed to enter GT2 for Lemans 09, but I suspect that the problems at GM may limit any factory racing next year, perhaps we will still get a private entry or two.

If this means Corvette scraps GT1 immediately and start with GT2 sooner in ALMS, that's actually great, then they'll have proper chance at the championship too. Last edited by deggis; 18 Dec 2008 at 09:21. |

If they enter GT2 , they will get their entry , but do they deserve 2 places when other teams just get the one , unless won from the previous years results or they are French ? Papis has already said that he wont be with P&M next year . Is it time that Mags , Johnny and the Ollies started looking for work elseware , or is there enough to keep them busy in GT2 ..... if indeed they want to do GT2 ? |

It Vett dont go i cant see AMR racing alone in GT1.
by the looks of it they are waiting to see what the rescue package for the car makers is. would be a shame to loose them. GT2 could get very intresting |

Strangely GM confirmed Magnussen´s GT1 contract a couple of weeks ago. But I guess that a lot has happened in the world of GM mismanagement

Corvette have said that they will be running GT1 at Sebring and Le Mans one last time, and after Le Mans in the ALMS they will be running the new GT2 Corvette.

Well, being imaginative, that could be good news regarding Aston Martin LMP1 project... If there is going to be no official Aston GT1 at Le Mans, there´s no need for Corvette to go there to win alone..., maybe they´ll want to try GT2 from the begining

It seems a bit strange to continue with a "racing budget" when your company is in dire straights. Wonder how the employees who's jobs are on the line feel about this? Just "food for thought" - for what it's worth Chrysler is shutting down for 30 days.

Food for thought ..... how long would say ..... 5 million keep Chrysler , Ford , GM , Suzuki , Subaru or Acura off the rocks for ?
I understand what you are saying , and I probably would feel hard done by in that situation but , everything must not stop because of hard times , the world goes on . |

IIRC it does. and ppl on the LINE or the UAW also sponsor Corvette Racing. the GM racing budget for 2009 did not cut Corvette Racing. It did cut out all drag racing and cut back on NASCAR. |

SO , you see my point ? A racing budget would not exactly save a company from bankruptsy , but it would still promote their product .
How much does TV advertising cost ? ..... hmmm , a lot more I would think . Regardless of recession , or no recession , the world still goes on , amazing isnt it !!! |

Fehan denies there is any truth to the Autosport article, in a DSC article this morning.

Highly doubt the already claimed GT1 program of Sebring and LM will go on, but could they be dropping the 2 street races between to better spend that money on the GT2 car? Slight misinterpretation of that being said could lead Autosport to decide the GT1 program was dead. Plus that would give them a better chance to debut a successful car and make some money on the program, it may be peanuts but anything that at least breaks even has a chance to survive. Would the GT2 car be eligible for any other series, FIA or any of the national series, or could it be downgraded to a GT3 spec inexpensively?
