mtpanorama should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid

Just a couple of things I heard along the grape vine over the last couple of days and was woundering if anyone could shed some light onto them.
The first one is Cameron McClean to be driving for FTR next year. Not a bad choice if it is true.
The second one is that Mark Larkham is to loose his M10 sponsorship next year, and if he does there will be a court case because he is only one year into a three year contract.
Can anyone help with this bit of gossip, or has anyone got anything that someone else might be able to help with?
Se you in the rumor mill. mtpanorama

Apparently Cameron McLean is a fairly certain thing....which is fantastic, as Cam is a top steerer and a top bloke (who incidently was once upon a time a neighbour of mine ). The unanswered question at the moment is whatis going to happen to Paragon motorsport, the team in which he is a major shareholder...

Larkham: I hope this isn't true, because Mitre 10 get great value out of him.

Prancing Horse: 1 or 2 car Falcon V8 team next season, engines by John Sidney, one possible driver Steve Gagg...

I read that team Kiwi are interested in buying the facilities of paragon (Greenfield mowers) and running their team from there or something like that anyway..good to see McLean get a chance as he has proved to be a competent driver allthough the pressures of running your own team showed a bit during a frustrating 2000 season.

havent heard the Larko news..must be a big blow for him as the have sponsored him for 10 years or maybe more

Hi guys,

Any idea what's going on coz I'm lost.

As of today FTR are still saying they havnt signed anyone to drive the second car for next year
I'm with you Dave......WHO??????
Prancing horse pulled their money out of panoz for adelaide to concetrate on other things, that being a one or probably 2 car FORD V8 supercar team as well as running the ferrari's in NC.

Crash, you'll be happy to know I've heard of Gagg.

I heard that John Sidney was a possibililty with a Fred Gibson project.

As for PHR...they don't seem to be telling what they're doing and with this pullout of the ALMS race in Adelaide, every man and his dog are sprouting rumours as to what PHR are doing next year.

Well I guess it is a wait and see thing with PHR. Thye have 3 Ferraris, plus the 2 they purchased from RPM, with franchises, under the condition that they would be run next year. So 5 Ferraris? I'd say that 2 V8s wouldn't be too hard to look after then

I pressume half the guys on the entry lists will be running Lights next year. I recognise a few newbies from other categories but some of them couldn't drive out of sight on a dark night there either. What's with Cromley driving for Forbes, has he hit rock bottom or has Forbes snr got something decent to offer?

The Crash Test Dummy noted where the Shell Series ended and the Konica series began in his post.

Chances of a regular appearance of a second Paul Morris Motorsport Commodore are slim, especially if Owen Kelly was maintaining his connections with the HRT Young Lions program next year. The car Kelly drove at Bathurst (briefly) will probably be on the amrket shortly as it's considerably older than the teams VT and a year or two older than the VS the was destroyed at Oran Park.

Cromley has a long connection with the Forbes family, which goes back to end of 1992 when after being impressed with Cromley's drive in the sister Nissan GT-R to the one Bob Forbes was running for Mark Gibbs, Forbes offerred the ride in his new Gibson build GIO Commodore to Cromley after Gibbs announced his full time racing retirement due to business commitments. He raced that season with Forbes before Forbes sold the team to Wayne Gardner.

Forbes has two V8Supercar franchises and the team wants to expand (supposedly). Crompton completes the jigsaw very nicely indeed.

Hmmm, i did have an updated list, and it can be found at http://www.qrda.asn.au

Owen Kelly: Well who knows what is going to happen there. My understanding is that he still had to pay for the ST drive, so you would imagine that a V8 drive would be a whole lot more expensive. Remember, they did run out of money in FFords this year...

All i can see coming from next season is a whole lot of tears from people who fail to qualify, even for the Konica series...

Sorry Falcadore and Crash Test I was speed reading again and missed the Konica line. I hope Cromley has a good year next year I hope Forbes can give him what he needs. As Crash Test says there seems to be an awful lot of cars for the grid positions available (lots of tears and sponsorship dollars down the toilet). E.g. I put my name on your car(for x amount of dollars) and you will get it on telly for me. What you didn't qualify! Thats it I'm never going to sponsor motorsport again!

Trust me I've heard it before.

Bummer...it seems that Larko has indeed lost his Mitre 10 sponsorship...but he will continue on next season with one car.

Mitre 10-years over
by: Andrew Clarke
V8X

After an evolving 10 year relationship that took him from Formula Holden to the top ranks of V8 Supercars, Mark Larkham has parted company with his major sponsor - Mitre 10. Larkham was sacrificed as part of an overall review of the Mitre 10 sponsorship activity, which Ian Tyson of Mitre 10 says needs to move into new areas.
"On behalf of Mitre 10 we would like to thank Mark Larkham for his years of contribution to our business," Mr Tyson said, "and would wish him and the team every success in the future. The review of our marketing activities has resulted in us being able to embrace new opportunities for development of the Mitre 10 brands."

Mark Larkham was philosophical about the decision: "After 10 years it is time for a change in direction... Obviously we are never happy to see the end of a strong association with a naming rights sponsor, however, we must realise that this is simply a case of a sponsorship coming to an end of its natural course.

"We will definitely be running one car for Mark Larkham next year and I wouldn’t think we will be any less competitive than this year - perhaps even better with some of the people we have recruited.

"Let me say, this will not present as big a hole as some perceive. We have good sponsors in Ford, Karcher and Supercraft and we are OK for next year."

That said, he is looking for a replacement for Mitre 10. The writing was on the boards with some senior management changes recently, which Larko says effectively moved the 10 year relationship back to scratch. Robert Stanley from Karcher and Howard Marsden of Ford have reaffirmed their commitment to the team.

The Larkham-Mitre 10 relationship was successful on many levels, and unique in the way it grew with his success and needs on the track, all the way from battling for the Formula Holden Champiosnhip to sitting on pole at Bathurst last year. The partnership resulted in the developing trend of involving key suppliers as co-sponsors, and gave us a series of great model cars for our bookshelves.
