This is from the Autosport site:

Independent driver Matt Neal may miss this weekend's BTCC title showdown after crashing his Nissan Primera during practice at Silverstone this afternoon (Friday).

The 33-year-old Englishman spun on oil and went off at Maggotts, badly damaging his Team Dynamics Primera. The car will not be repaired in time for the final rounds of the BTCC on Saturday.

Neal hopes that he may be able to get a hold of the car that he drove last year in time for Saturday's qualifying, even though he has already grabbed the Independent's title.

Neal was less than complimentary about the Silverstone officials after his crash. "I was at Maggotts in sixth gear and there was no grip at all. It was like a skating rink," he said. "No oil flags were out and if there was a marshal out there, I didn't see him."

Team manager Tim Harvey echoed Neal's sentiments: "No wonder Silverstone hasn't got the Grand Prix when they have a staff level this low at a meeting of this status."

We could have a very quiet Woody on Saturday if there's no Matty for her to cheer for

RIKB should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Ok Guys and Girls, here's an excerpt from the latest news, just released.

Refering to this afernoons crash in practice it says,
Quote:
Neal was unhurt in the incident but his Team Dynamics Nissan Primera was too badly damaged to carry on. However, the team had its spare car delivered just in time for the night practice and Neal was ninth fastest, just behind a similar Primera of fellow Independent David Leslie.
I have a feeling that their "spare" is the '98 spec Primera. He may not be as competitive, but at least he will be racing!

I think he was put off not by the oil, but by some silly old cow strutting about the pits promoting a commentator...
