World Motor Sport Council decisions

The World Motor Sport Council met in Paris on 27 June 2001. The following decisions were taken:

SPORTING REGULATIONS (immediate effect)

Change of car - A driver wishing to change cars must have got out of his original car and left the grid before the 15 second signal which immediately precedes the start of the formation lap. This procedure has been introduced with immediate effect following the unanimous agreement of the competing teams.

GOVERNANCE IN SPORT

The World Motor Sport Council adopted the statement of principles of good governance for Sports Governing Bodies approved at the Conference jointly held by the European Olympic Committee and the FIA in Brussels on 26 and 27 February 2001.
Good to know they are concentrating on the thing that matter

What is wrong with these people?

The swapping cars bit is clear, but what are the principles of good sports governance?

More white lines on the track for people to step over?

Iwould guess this has something to do with the Winter Olympics scandal at Salt Lake City. Sports governance bodies in general have come under alot of scrutiny as a result of this affair where the local organizers bribed some of the Olympic Committee members to get the games. Having made this sage observation I will ask "Who the he** is the World Motor Sport Council?"
