..and somehow we hope/expect that a Judd/AER etc. will develop an engine to the new rules, that is fast, reliable AND meets the fuel economy?

In theory the old Judd V10 is eligible for the 2014 rules... and that one was reliable, but with air restrictors instead of fuel restrictors. I wonder if there is a thought from anyone to revive that engine in a privateer LMP1 car.

It is really dependent on the fuel mileage of that engine. Love to see it back though, it was a decent privateer lump.

Good news. Very likely for this deal to go through. Oak is a good customer. Serious about there effort. Won't make HPD look bad.

Is the amount of fuel actually going to be limited per race distance - Group C was 51L/100km for example - or is it going to be controlled via fuel flow, and you can use as much as you need?

I don't think I've had a clear answer on this.

at worst they are below of a second slower then the leading pack in the GTE, thats on normal 90 second tracks. And thats with a 5 year old racecar, based on a 6-7 year old chassis, and a almost 20 year old engine. and thats without any waivers like corvettes and BMWs. Seriosly the 991 gt3 RSR would be more then enough to eliminate that gap.
If they do build a car between the 911 and 918, that would be awsome, but IMO the 911 should stay the GTE contender for porsche if for nothing else for the tradition off it.
I think someones afraid that Ferrari lose there Mid engine advantage lol. but seriously I would hate to lose the 911 from GTE. Porsche has always stood for rear engine so I would hate to see that variety lost in GTE racing.

This is the way I see it . You can only use so much fuel , as the engine can only drink so much of it .

This is nothing more than a wish and a prayer but Penske now has an engine shop that has been freed from use in North Carolina. Future Penske Porsche ALMS home?

Yeah , everyone wants to see Goldie Locks and her pretty red little Fiat pounding around the circuits of the world .

Where were they when Porsche were building their superior name and history in sportscars ?

If I may ask. Why does Porsche's racing history matter as of late? Saying they were building a superior name or tradition in sportscars had no effect on the beatdown they recieved at Le Mans this year to the hands of a red little fiat.

I can sense the ulterior motives at play lol. Someone here is content to see Porsche's padding around the backs of the grids. Any mid-engine Porsche might just beat his precious Ferrari. Someone else here believes that Porsche is better because of history and tradition.

Call me insightful

Heritage matters ..... the little red pig finished in front of the little green donkey at the last race , didnt it ?

I believe Porsche is better , cuz obviously im biased towards Porsche . Heritage is whats made when your successful , which no other mark can boast about in sportscars like Porsche can ..... with a car that still basically looks the same as it did 50 years ago ..... thats heritage for ya .

I do hope the rear engine layout survives because if everything ends up so similar that you can hardly tell them apart it will destroy sports car racing, as for the who is best 911 or ferrari I not sure how many times the sales/race victory figures are but i am sure we all know the extent of the victory is rather heavily on the side of Porsche. But at the moment the F cars seem to have an edge on the track but they have had that at times in the past and it never lasted that long

Pilbeam Racing Design is a British company. See http://www.pilbeamracing.co.uk/company_profile.htm

Only the powerplant is designed in South Africa. This production based Toyota engine is already used in rally raid.
