Less looker than the Q45 IMHO... but with a nice painting... the DPs really look better now, and I'd bet it's gonna even improve in the months to come...

"Because its an attempt to make street tuners think their cars are out there racing on the track when in reality the GA cars are no such animal. I don't buy it."

These street tuners buy it from JGTC, which really is only a copy of the old IMSA GT, and now Grand Am is picking up the original IMSA GT idea again for its GT class to bring the variety back into the U.S.

Dead on IMHO. In fact, to confirm your statement, you can read the second half of this interview I did with Grand-Am's technical guru, Mark Raffauf, for Motorsport.com in June of 2003...

Most of the 'street tuners' I know had never even heard of JGTC until the California event was advertised like crazy.

The original IMSA GT class was similar, minus spec. restrictors, to the ALMS GTS class, not the new GT 1, and not even closely related to the GTO cars fromteh eighties.
Unless the GARRA GTs HAVE to start with a production chassis, and then modify it within production pick-up areas, so the cars can go as fast as possible, with modifications, they are even further away from the original GT than ALMS.

So this will replace the DPs? - Good idea. Much nicer to look at.

Really?

Why are the "street tuners" buying all kinds of JGTC videos directly from Japan and now one of the company that produces them decided to make U.S. editions.

Why are there JGTC articles covering the season monthly in many import magazines?

Why are there JGTC scale model cars available in the U.S.?

Why did they bring this event here?

And Bob, you can have your view, but I'll go with the Q&A Burd referred to as that comes from one of the people that was actually involved in those days and is making the rules now.
