Nippon GT cars
Anybody knows the secret of Nippong Gt´s, the power is only 470ps and the weigth is 1100kg but those cars are more fast than GT2 cars. I don´t understand, what is the secret??? Maybe aerodynamics??? and the prize of the cars???

Uh... 'cause they're mostly sillohuete (sic) racers, whereas GT2 cars are based on production models.
On which track can you even get a direct comparison between the two? |

For example I can do comparison in Suzuka track. In 1997 FIA GT championship Beretta did in qualifying (he was the poleman in GT2) 2:07.502. Also in 1997 Sekiya scored a very good time of 2:05.246 (he was the poleman).
In the next year Euser was the poleman in FIA GT with a best time of 2:05.151, but that year the pole in Nippon GT championship was 2:02.939. Today the gap between both is the same but it´s strange, the weight is seemed and the power of GT2 cars is about 120 or 130 ps. more. |

Definitely the Japanese GT cars have better aerodynaic packages for each track.
Also they have more flexibility with weight optimization (putting things in the car where they want them.) Also I have a feeling that they would receive better tyres. Most parts are not so standard. For example, obviously a Toyota Supra will never beat a Dodge Viper, but the series is deigned around the Supra Skyline and NSX. The McLaren races around with less than 550hp apparently and carries lots of weight. Finally, some of the drivers a pretty good, and they and their teams, are very familiar with the tracks and local environments and setup needed. Check out www.JGTC.net |

The best way to compare is look at the 1997 GT race at Suzuka, as some JGTC teams did the GT race.
