I would say that's a good onboard there. I would lower the camera just a tiny amount to show more of the road, and maybe tidying up the graphics a little, but apart from that its great.

Since you can actually see what's going on it's a lot better than most onboards these days (where watching the bonnet seems to be a priority). Of course something about the picture and sound quality doesn't exactly scream major league, but I wouldn't expect it to.

There should be a web-cam of some sort from Kursk, where the 2 round is held this week-end. I think it will work only on Sunday - http://rtcc2011.esvim.ru/

Some video from the second round. 2l class. Two wins for Mister BMW Russia Mikhail Ukhov. His nearest rival Alex Frolov drove the heaviest car (1290 kg Seat Leon) and it cost a lot at the track with some notable elevation changes and hard braking zones.

Since Gazprom suddenly dropped from a F1 idea in 2002, Maslov was not driving if I remember correct. He is not in RTCC now.

For those, who are interested in Lada Granta. Photos taken by Jeraldo from f1news.ru forum. He was at the first round of Granta Cup that took place at Myachkovo autodrom.

As for race, it was a hour long with mandatory pit-stop for 5 minutes. |

Some photos from RTCC official site. 3 round. Nizhnii Novgorod. High voltage event. A young talent Alex Frolov (Orenburg Racing) won shortened by a thunderstorm race 1, but destroyed his Seat at the first turn after finish. Vladimir Strelchenko (Khimki Motorsport) gave Alex his own car to start second race. Mikhail Ukhov's race was ruined by a contact with another BMW driver. Mikhail started 2 race from 16 position but managed to finish 2nd. Ukhov's team ask for disqualification for Frolov as he used Strelchenko's car.

That last photo with the lightning in is incredible. In a fraction of a second the photographer managed to capture both the flash and the fast-moving race car. Amazing timing!

Paul Kalmanovich, pilot of the LADA Granta Cup, presented LADA Granta Sport on the final stage of the RTCC, which was held last weekend at the track "Smolensk ring".
Paul participated in "Touring" class. Despite the difference in engine power (foreign race cars have engines of 300 horsepower, while LADA Granta Sport it is only 240 HP), the car frm Togliatti has demonstrated a high rate - Paul Kalmanovich showed time in the top six touring car in the two races. Source translated from Russian. |

And why was it so fast? That's funny. They themselves say about hp difference and a high rate. Some "chemistry" again?

Oh, an event at Hungaroring for Granta Cup. Who's going there if they were not able to built a normal 20-cars starting grid this season?
Besides, as far as I know, street courses are forbidden from next year, so we've lost races in Kursk and Lipetsk. So, I think, Togliatti race will be held at some industrial area or it'll become "flugplatzrennen". |

RRC (Russian Racing Championship) instead of RTCC because there'll be some new classes such as F-Abarth (don't know how it sounds because not interested in monoposto), Legends, Mit-Jet and even Russian GT with some GT4 and Cup machinery. Season pesentation to be held on May 13th in Moscow. First round - 20th May in Smolensk.

So, the first round at Smolensk was an easy game for Alexandr Frolov. Now he drives TNK-team BMW 320 e90 (ex-Mikhail Ukhov's car - unfortunately Mikhail doesn't race this season). There was no competition from Lukoil Lada, as they didn't recieve their Grantas and needed to race underpowered cup cars. PSM80 team that made it's own Priora (not the same as Russian Bears used) couldn't get their gearbox in time, so they had to skip the event. Some Seat Leon drivers collided with each other - and one Leon was destroyed in a GT race - so, lots of work to do for STORM B-Tuning team. They hope to repair cars before the second round - at Kazan in the degining of June. The track is great with amazing elevation changes. And everybody hope that drivers from Tatarstan (besides, KAMAZ home) will join the grid.
