McLaren are sponsored by West, not Philip Morris.

And tobacco sponsors weren't on the front wings.
I think with the front wing being so curved and skinny, it is worthless putting sponsors on that part. |

actually that doesn't make sense. Just noticed BAR running in full Licky strike livery, at least on the driver suits

All the teams ran full tobacco livery if they had tobacco sponsors.
It was part of the deal that saw Spa back on the calendar. |

As far as I can remember, the front wing has hardly had any sponsors on it since the launch of the first 19A, I think.

Quite strange, anyway.
Especially considering that the front wing is often catched by photgraphers or Tv shots... and that the rent-price for that space is quite high, usually. Maybe a question of look? Or simply the shape rules, as correctly knowlesy focused? |

Well, it has three thin elements which aren't angled brilliantly for sponsors.
It used to have Siemens mobile on I think? I'm still surprised there's nothing on it though. |

They've had lots of different things on there - the West logos were some of the first, I remember.
I think it maybe is just a case of there not being very space with the 3 elements...Ron Dennis is notorious for being particular about how the cars look. |

perhaps due to the form some sponsors pulled out a little cash, eg: 1 million per race for say side pods and wing, West reduced it to $750K per race and lost the sponsors on the wing (just a thought)
