TOCA media day in Sydney?
I suppose TOCA will be holding a series launch in a mall in Brisbane. But I reckon they should hold one here in Sydney, either in Campbelltown, Parramatta, Sydney CBD or even Wollongong. They need to launch the series in NSW in a big way.

Indeed, the blind bloke with the saxaphone would proabbly overwhelm any launch in Brisbane's mall

Most of these guys are lucky if they can duct tape a car together for a race meeting let alone a media day.

its needs some competitors in the series before it can think of a media day.
However, a media day before each race meeting would be beneficial, plus a big pre season launch in sydney, seeing as they generally attract the most fans. |

The best attended meetings in Sydney was the 97 Amaroo meeting, then the truck meetings, which are always well attended, STs or no STs...
As for meet the public events, the best one I have ever seen was te Procar day at Park Road in Milton, Brisbane. A s****y coffee type area (which just happens to be near the Procar office) with 30 cars drew a massive crowd...of course they had all of the performers etc to go with it. Plus things like a big Ferrari and Jaguar drew special interest groups in...would people be interested in seeing old Vectras etc? |

I recall TOCA had one at a mall or somewhere leading up to the Queensland Raceway round of the 1999 championship, and channel 10 where there to interview all the drivers on their thought of the bathurst 1000 changing to 500 kays.

It's funny how off the record that not too many of them were happy about the 500km thing....

I don't think there were too many people happy about it full stop. TOCA weren't, i'm sure Alan Gow wasn't, the big race for his category was gone, and channel 7's coverage of that event was nothing compared to other years, Wilko wasn't there, neither was Raymond or Moffat who had commentated on the series that year. I reckon the only person pleased with how it turned out was Steve Frazer, as he was seen as the face of the evnt, therefore more exposure for him (& mony), rather like a certain head of AVESCO.

Yeah, but a little over 800 people paid to go to the race... surely that doesn't rub off very well on anyone involved with the race?
