Zandvoort

Can anyone help with gear ratios for Zandvoort suitable for historic F2 please?

My circuit notes from 1989 are out of date!

The new (1998) layout looks very similar to Dijon although the straight may be longer. Does anyone have any recent experience of the 'circuit in the dunes'?

Thanks
Roger

Roger,
The Zandvoort straight is not really longer than Dijon; those ratios may be close to what you need.

Zandvoort

Hi Fangio,
Many Thanks for that. The current Zandvoort circuit layout does indeed have many similarities to Dijon. In its past form of course it had a great history like Dijon.
I watched my first Dutch G.P. at Zandvoort in 1963! Historic racing is all about nostalgia after all!

Thanks again.

Isn't Zandvoort reasonably flat, Dijon has the long pit straight but its uphill, it caught us out in 2011 as I had forgotten it.

Zandvoort

Yes it is flat. The minimum elevation is 4 metres rising to a maximum of 8 metres at the Scheivlak corner.
The present layout does seem to retain the old circuit's characteristic of being very fast!

The most difficult corner for me on my last visit in 1989, in an understeering Anson SA 4B, was the Hugenholtzbocht. I got significantly acquainted with the Armco as I remember!

Hi rbracing, I am using the same diff and gearratio's at Dijon and Zandvoort. It's a perfect fit for me. Enjoy your racing @ Zandvoort, cheers ...

Hi Pieter,
Many Thanks for your advice. Zandvoort will be my first outing since Dijon 2011 so I will not have do a ratio change!
My wife and I are looking forward to returning to Zandvoort after so many years.
I understand it is the first unsilenced meeting for a number of years. It will be great to see period F1 cars there again. Are you going? Is there a lot of interest in the meeting in the Netherlands? I remember the crowds were always large. The train from Amsterdam on the Sunday morning of the GP was always packed!
Fingers crossed for the weather!
Regards

Hi rbracing, thanks for your friendly reaction. Although I live around the corner, I won't be there, as I am still waiting for parts to arrive. The weather is rather stable at the moment. I'm sure you'll like the new track lay out, the circuit has been restored to about its former glory in 1998/99, so enjoy.

I understand this to be the first time, that Masters is organizing at Zandvoort, so I'm not sure about the crowds. Normally it takes a few years to restore an event - Historic GP - to its former glory. As you rightly point out, the potential is there ...

We had a great event with 31.500 spectators over the Saturday and Sunday.
Thanks to all the overseas competitors who came to our Historic Grand Prix. Same weekend next year!
