Something to argue over in the off season.
To be honest, you can't really argue about the top 3 though.

No Toyota or Nissan drivers let alone Rebellion or By Kolles drivers included. Although how could you rate the Nissan drivers. So something to argue over in the off season.

That's a poor merit-less article and list. Just mostly fastest drivers in the fastest cars nonsense.

Agreed. Ratings are obviously car dependant. Not like Lotterer or Jani could make the Nissan or Toyota do sub 3:20's at Le Mans

I don't like Davidson, but he should be in that list. Tincknell and Pla should be either on, or close to it too. And it may sound harsh, but Fassler does not deserve his place in that list. He is too often taken out of the rotation when more speed is needed. He is safe, but that's it. Davidson, for example, is a better driver than Fassler.

I think Fasslers pace at Fuji this years especially shows that he is a very fast driver.

It depends upon what you base your 'top 10 drivers'.

Raw speed alone? The number of errors you make compared to your teammates? The contribution a driver brings to finding the best setup for the car? The contribution in
developing the car throughout the year? ...

Maybe a slower driver can contribute as much to a team than the faster race driver because the first one is more important/has better input in some/all of the other aspects?
The team just needs to use the right driver for the right task...

It is a team sport and if the team actually believes one driver should not be there, he will be replaced.
If he stays, he probably makes a valued contribution to the team one way or another.

BTW Lotterer still the best, no doubt on that; but this year Lieb and Duval performances have been quite disappointing. At 2nd place I pick Jani that I consider the fastest porsche driver. 3rd place for Rast/Bonanomi that have been amazing at le mans.

I think Buemi needs to be up in the top 3. Davidson is close. As for Lotterer, he's quick in his Audi, probably their fastest. But in other series vs. like drivers (super formula for example) he's not the fastest guy. So other factors come into play like the car and team. Would he be as fast as Jani or Webber in the Porsche? As quick as Nakajima Buemi etc. in the Toyota? Thats why these driver ratings are mostly car dependant.

I'd use the fact that Lotterer can turn it on and be competetive in other series as a positive supporting case here.

I don't follow Super Formula, but I do remember seeing a few pole laps onboards from Lotterer.

I checked this year's results, it seems he had a relatively bad year(3rd in the championship) but still had some decent qualifying positions: P3 and P2 at Suzuka, pole at Sugo, P4 in Autopolis

Last year he had pole at Suzuka(series record? I think he clocked the series' only time ever on the 1.36s), Fuji(22.5 I guess also record?), P6 on other Fuji race, then did not race on Motegi, P3 on Autopolis, P3 on Sugo, and P3 again on the second Suzuka round.

I didn't do the maths, but I would guess he had easily the best average QLF position, last year.

I didn't look race results because lot's other things, other than speed, comes into the equation.

Who would you say, from Super Formula, that is faster than Lotterer?

Nakajima, De Oliveira, Ishiura, Yamamoto and Kobayashi are all right there with Lotterer. Im not saying they're faster but just like the wec, well actually closer to imsa dp teams, some teams are better and more experienced and have faster cars even with the spec package. In Andre and Nakajima's case, team Toms is the champion I do think he is top three at least in the wec.
