Jarno may loose fourth place
Renault driver Jarno Trulli's fourth place in the Monaco Grand Prix will remain provisional for at least two days, the FIA has said.
The other cars in the race have passed scrutineering but there is a question mark over the software on Trulli's car. An FIA official said checking the telemetry and sophisticated car computer will take at least two days and a decision on whether to allow the result to stand will not be taken until then. The result was Trulli's first points finish of the season and looked to have put an end to his run of misfortune. If he is excluded Rubens Barrichello will move up to sixth place with Giancarlo Fisichella and Heinz-Harald Frentzen promoted to fourth and fifth respectively. |

Poor sod - despite the fact his team mate spent most of the first few races bringing in the points and attracting rave reviews while Jarno's car keeps breaking down, he seems to have been relatively upbeat most of the time.Hope he scores some points soon, he deserves them.

Yes, he seems to have assumed Berger/Alesi's mantle in that respect.

Perhaps they'll do it the same way as the did when it happened to Hakkinen a couple of years ago, when they fined the team $50 000 and only took the constructor's points away.

What could he have done for the FIA to question his car's software? They've legalised traction control, so what else could the team do with the software to help the car in an illegal way?? I mean, they must be nit picking surely..

Quite, as does Jenson Button (who would have been ahead of Trulli on the grid were it not for traffic). What the heck happened to the "once great" Renault launch control there then??

If you ask me, i thought that Renault's launch control is still quite impressive...

but as one of the commentators said on either the English or French channels I was jumping back and forth between, the other guys have probably improved theirs enought to be as good as the Renaults'.
And as for the FIA sticker, why would it being there still be so important with the free-for-all stuff now? |

If Trulli loses this fourth place, it cements his position as unluckiest driver on the grid.
He drove a great race yesterday. Smooth and very fast. Arguably the problem is not anything that would have enhanced the performance of the car, so perhaps the FIA will do what they have done previously and fine the team but let Trulli keep his drivers points. Fingers crossed that happens. |
