2003 FORMULA ONE CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS
DRIVERS' CHAMPIONSHIP 1st Michael Schumacher 77pts (6 wins) 2nd Kimi Raikkonen 67pts (1 win) 3rd Juan Pablo Montoya 62pts (2 wins) 4th Rubens Barrichello 48pts (2 wins) 5th Ralf Schumacher 41pts (2 wins) 6th Fernando Alonso 36pts (1 win) 7th David Coulthard 33pts (1 win) 8th Jarno Trulli 15pts 9th Giancarlo Fisichella 10pts (1 win) 10th Heinz-Harald Frentzen 7pts 11th Jenson Button 7pts 12th Mark Webber 3pts 13th= Olivier Panis 2pts 13th= Marc Gene 2pts 13th= Nick Heidfeld 2pts 13th= Jacques Villeneuve 2pts 13th= Cristiano da Matta 2pts 18th Takuma Sato 1pt CONSTRUCTORS' CHAMPIONSHIP 1st Ferrari 125pts (8 wins) 2nd Williams-BMW 103pts (4 wins) 3rd McLaren-Mercedes 100pts (2 wins) 4th Renault 51pts (1 win) 5th Jordan-Ford 10pts (1 win) 6th= Sauber-Petronas 9pts 6th= BAR-Honda 9pts 8th Toyota 4pts 9th Jaguar-Cosworth 3pts no difference at all in the top echelons of both championship tables. mainly the bottom half of the standings are affected. Jordan would have finished 5th in the constructors' championship on the dint of their sole win in Brazil, with Sauber and BAR tied for 6th (Minardi not making it into the points on the old scoring system either, with reliability incredibly high); obviously a lot less drivers would have scored at all. Fisichella would have claimed best of the rest on his and Jordan's sole points finish. so does it appear that changing the points system has made the battle for points for mid-field teams better? |
