Amsterdam Street Circuit

With street circuit being all the new rage, these days, I thought I'd find an appropriate spot for the all-new Dutch Grand Prix through the streets of Amsterdam. No, not the narrow ones along the canals -- there's hardly enough room for normal traffic -- but along the RAI exibition complex in the south of the city.

One of the RAI parking lots could serve as pits and paddock, with the enormous parking garage underneath the complex, providing parking space for spectators coming across the A10 ring road, wich is accessible from the north (A7 and A8, east (A1), south-east (A2) and south-west (A4). Plus there's a couple metro stations and two major train stations in the area, too.

Looks very good, it reminds me of Silverstone in parts. Do I see a chicane on the west side of the circuit? That would be great.

And as it's in Amsterdam Tomas Enge would feel right at home

That's a chicane indeed. Otherwise that straight would be a bit over a kilometre long. With no run-off to speak of, that's not a smart thing to do, I guess.

And now, a street circuit in Utrecht, the city where I work. Not even close to this area, but that's hardly interesting.

It's 3.9 km (2.4 mi) long, with a 600 m main straight. The track would be reasonably fast. The west-most section isn't very wide, though, so F1 or Champ Car is probably out of the question. Formula 3 and down, or touring cars would be a good option, I think.

I designed it to be clockwise, but counter-clockwise would be pretty cool, too. Perhaps that would make the pit lane a bit easier to get in to and out of.

I like the canalside section though as you say it is a little narrow, especially at the bridge over the entrance to the old loading dock.

Looks good, Steve. It might be a bit long, over 5 km (3 mi), with long-ish straights. Perhaps one or two chicane-like corners would be appropriate.
