Yes that's the family. The Autosport article showed the Mirage-BRM & the Lola in one pic, and David's Skoda was another pic. Malcolm Johnstone was a sometime-Skoda driver aswell. At the time of Autosports' article (March 81) they were still deciding whether to sell the Skoda...

I remember the Auger Skoda as being the first car, IIRC, being built on a S2000 tub (T492 I think) rather than a 2-litre G6 one. Little actual difference I realise, but showed the way the world was going at the time. It was also, I think, the first 1300cc Skoda.
Malcolm Johnstone was a good racer I saw from late 70s to early 80s. Didn't he have a 1-litre Mini, then Imp, then Skoda? From Lowdham, near Notts, i recall. Does he do anything now ? |

just finished the Allen histories, wow ....what can I say !
Couple of points, though not much help with the mysteries I'm afraid. First 'GRS' as seen in the Zaborowski pics was I think Gunther Richter Sport, who built a one-off F2 car in about 1981-82, with little success as I recall. Similar sort of team to the Brutschins/Gebhardts, German privateers mainly doing the German F2 races only. Second, how often did the Augers race their T280 ? I can't remember it out much at all in early 80s, the odd Libre race perhaps, Donington Open type things ? |

The only time I know Auger raced it was at a Donington Open event in April 1981, but he may have done a few more that year.

Michael
The T286 / 7 was Skidmore car and the Y Mahé car was the ex Schultess T284 LM 1974 and 1975 .This car was by Heini Mader (ex Bonnier team in Gland Switzerland ) in 1974 builded . Y Mahé tolled to me that T284 is not Lola chassis number , the car was builded with spares from 1972 Jo Bo's T280 . The chassis number is T280/4 HU02 !!!! Its for me difficult to believe but that seem to be coherent... what do you think about ? |

Alain,
Well that answers why Schulthess' car didn't really seem to fit anywhere... To his credit, Michael did suggest that this may be the case (See Allen's helpful page!) |

Also, Fox Motorsports were advertising T280 HU02 in Motor Sports and this is a totally different car, it is in the US, I believe. So this puts a question mark over the Mahe car, especially given what I have been told about when it was built and how... Would be interesting to see the pictures from the LM Classic. |

Just watched the LM Classic on MotorsTV, and while there weren't any close-ups, there were a couple of shots of Mahé's car during racing - it was plain yellow, with T280 type bodywork. Hopefully Alain's photos will show it better.

ACO Photos
If you know the number of the car you are looking for the ACO has all the pictures in order. |
