There i am, sitting bombing down towards the "s" before La Carriere at Spa. I've just run wide at Stavelot. I can't see the corner ahead because of the sunlight reflacting off my screen, and the track happens to be particularly dark here.
I just get through, and strain to see the groove before La Carriere itself. I couldn't see it, but somehow i make it through OK. Next is Blanchimant. I really can't see anything here. I see bright blue skies, and a dark drown-grey landscape ahead. I brake much too early, to be on the safe side. A few seconds later, i cross the line thinking that i'd just done another 22 or something. But i crashed at Les Combes next lap, and so hit F2 to see my time from the previous lap. 3m20.252!!!! At last i've done it!!!!!!!! That's 9 of 11 now How i did that i'll never know, but i can safely say i easily have a 3m19 in me. |

Well done pirenzo. I bet now you'll find another couple of seconds without much trouble.

Easily. I was a good 50m early on the brakes for Blanchimant, and cautious through La Carriere. Then there was my slight mistake at Stavelot. And there's room for improvement at Les Combes too (i have taken that corner better before)

Anyway, on another note, i've lowered my PB at Monaco. I think looking at it i'm just still too slow out of corners like Portier, and Les Gasométres

Wish i'd remembered to say everything in my original post
Meant to say also that i did a 1m31.42 in the BRM at Monza... I think that's quite good, considering Huttu's lap is only 1m28 |

yes indeed.
Will it be another year for the young guns? Or will the older and wiser(perhaps debatable) Ayse prevail? The silly season begins. Last edited by pirenzo; 3 Aug 2003 at 21:48. |

Just found another 1.1 secs at the Nurb, giving me a new pb of 8m30.766 and a new GPL Rank of -7.025. Slowly but surely it's coming down.

yeah. Concetrate on the fast bits. Extracting the most from those bits is essential. You should be taking Fuchroehre flat out for instance, and also trying to take Antonious Buche without the brakes too. Don't push too hard in the slow stuff, you'll end up making mistakes.

Everyone seems to be getting faster! Good stuff. If we can get some decent grids out for the next TTFL, it should be good fun. "Older and wiser" - the former for sure, definitely not the latter

Perhaps 3 weeks before the next season starts, we could have a new thread for the TTFL, then have a poll, where people can vote who they think will win (you can't vote for yourself) and then you can close the poll before race 1...

I fired up GPL, to do some laps at Kyalami. I wanted to give Monaco a rest.
But i didn't feel like Kyalami, so i thought i'd make things difficult for myself by driving a Lotus with an unmodified GH2 setup around Monaco. lap 1 : 1m30.73 (hmm, not bad, don't normally go that quick so soon) lap 2: 1m30.02 (wow, two complete laps in a row, and i tagged the straw bails in the chicane) lap 3: 1m28.794! (****!) 10 out of 11 green now |

Dani, how did you manage a 1m55 on your first lap at Watkins Glen?
Were you admiring the scenery or something? |

Probably got stuck in those hay bales on the right early in the lap! I well remember the days when I used to be in those 2 laps out of 3!
