Abu Dhabi is too much 'pretty lights' and not enough 'eau rouge' (and other corners that still fall into the catagory of 'challenging'). It's probably doomed to go the same way as Shanghai and Serpang, too much 'glitter' and not enough substance. Mr Tilke does not do 'challenging', but he does build nice hotels.

Toyota F1 wasn't a 'racing team', and Yas Marina isn't a 'racing circuit'.Pretty much sums it all up for me.

It's a good article don't you think ? it's easy to get seduced by the glitter and newness of a place, but it is not Spa, Silverstone or Brazil is it, and never will be..

My local Kart circuit provides no glitz or glamour, but even F1 cars would have had a much better race there.

Silverstone isn't exactly much of an overtaking circuit either. The only real place in F1 terms is at the end of the hangar straight, but after the high speed (and thus tough to follow) sequence of Maggots, Beckett's, and Chapel, cars are rarely close enough to make a move there.

Silverstone is more of a drivers circuit then a racers circuit. And isn't the same true of Abu Dhabi? The drivers were all saying how great it was to drive.

Maybe I'm missing something, but why is Silverstone rated so much higher than Yas Marina when the quality of F1 racing it provides is similar (rain notwithstanding)?
